Park pass security

Someone on ebay has just returned from Disney and states that all passes are being registered under the "two finger" system (I don't know how else to describe it, not having seen it!).

I had read somewhere on these boards that it was just the Annual and Residents Passes.

Anyone have the answer.

If that is the case it will put a stop to people selling on passes with odd days left. Mind you it is not legal anyway under Disney regs and wide open to fraud, so it will be no bad thing.

We had a 10 day pass last August and they used the "two finger" system then. Sorry but can not think of another name for it . You just put two fingers in the machine when you put your pass in the machine. We asked about it and were told the machine measures your fingers and records the details with the card. So unless you have the same length fingers you wouldn't be able to use someone elses pass.
I had only put our surname on the passes (DH DS12 and myself).
On our second day we had to keep putting the passes in the machine and putting fingers in machine to check whose card belonged to who. We soon put first names on our own cards
However they didn't use this system on the child pass (DS7)

The information posted on ebay is not correct. We'd have heard much, much more about it here if Disney was requiring the finger scans for PHP or one day passes.

In addition to the annual and resident passes, certain passes that are targeted to the international market also require finger scans. One of those is the 10 day pass referred to by sadeeyore. Scans for that particular pass are not new, although it is relatively new for domestic guests to purchase and use those passes. (So far, WDW doesn't restrict U.S. residents from using those passes, but many brokers do not sell them to U. S. residents).

Something must not have been working with our AP. Somehow Dh kept both passes, so he handed me mind going through, after i got through I looked and I had his pass. My pass worked worked for him. So just for a test the next day we eache used the other pass and bothe got in with no trouble

When the biometric scan "fails", the CMs at the entrance are supposed to ask for ID. They don't always do that. Sometimes they aren't paying attention and sometimes they just use their good judgement. It's not uncommon for families to "mix" up their passes. Maybe the CM took one look at you and your DH and just "knew you belonged together!"
