Park Pass question

With the news about the more expensive AP options and my lack of familiarity with park pass ressies I have a question. We have had AP's so making them were pretty easy.
We are currently Platinum AP holders (DVC members) whose passes expire 12/28. We WERE planning on renewing those for our trip for new years and marathon weekend but
we are not sure about 2022 trips since our daughter will be starting college next fall.
My issue is reserving park days....If I do not have AP's but buy day tickets when can I book park passes? We do have resort ressies starting on 12/30, when can that happen.
