Park Pass Expert Wanted!

We're going to be in Disney World for 5 days in April. We want to park hop 4 days and go to Typhoon Lagoon 1 day. We have 4 days and 3 "plusses" on 3 passes from our last trip. I am thinking about letting my 10 year old use the 4 leftover days and 1 plus at TL. My wife and I will use the 2 remaining plusses at TL. That leaves us needing 2 Adult 4 Day Park Hoppers and a 4 Day Parkhopper Plus for our 4 year old.

We are members of DC and AAA. If we could get an AP discount (not available for Easter-time - YET!) I'd consider buying one. I'll be in Orlando on business this coming week and could zip to DTD or the Disney Store at the airport if buying tickets in advance would save us money. (or is that buying it advance discount only available by phone or mail?)

O.K. Park Pass experts, what's the most economical way to buy the passes I need?

First of all, there is no 4 day PHP.

Second, there is no advance purchase discount when buying the 4 day PH's anywhere at WDW. You need to get them at your local (non-Florida) TDS, on the Disney web site, or by calling 407-WDISNEY to get the advance price.

You have several options to cover everyone.

1) Buy 2 adult ($204.49 ea) and 1 child ($161.89) 4 day PH's and pay for the 4 year old when you go to TL. Water park ticket will cost $24.50 with DC discount. Cost for the 4 day PH's will be $570.87 so your total would be $595.37.

2) Buy 2 adult 4 day PH's and 1 child ($200.23 DC advance price) 5 day PHP. This would leave you with 1 park day and one pluss option left over. This option would cost you $609.21 but you'd have an extra park admission and an extra plus for only $14 additional over option 1.

3) You can probably buy these same tickets from some of the Florida ticket wholesalers for a few dollars less.

One *possible* exception: The occasional 4 Day PHP shows up on ticketmania for subscribers to the Mousesavers newsletter. I'd suggest Poly Pal subscriber to the newsletter (www.mousesavers.com), which is a wonderful resource, then wait for the next newsletter, which comes out on March 15. I certainly wouldn't turn down any good offers elsewhere for this, but it may be worth a shot. I think I've seen it once in the last year, but it was an excellent price on a 4+4 and they had both childrens and adult options. It would seem to me if this by some chance occurs, Poly Pal could get one of these for his 4 year old, then seek out a discounted pair of 4 day Hoppers. Note: Current Ticketmania price for 4 Day Hoppers is $210.94, about eigh bucks below list. Again, it's a long shot, but may be worth waiting two week for.

I know this for sure cause I went through this in December. The AP is the ONLY pass you can get at a discounted rate on in Florida with your DC- and you can get them at the Disney store that is in the airport. Unfortunately, their computer was down and we had to then do the same at DTD, but still got the discount. Of course, if you have the time you can just order them for the same discount at your local Disney Store and just wait for them...

I have 3 adult Park Hopper Plus passes, they are 7 days hopping and 4 plusses. We only have used 2 days on each and all the plusses are still there. I need to buy a 5 day for our 3 year old son. Can I just buy a regular 5 day, and use up the plusses? Example, would they let me swipe the card twice for myself and son? Also, if they don't if the hopping days are all used up, are the plusses still good????

they will not let you swipe your ticket twice for you and your child. your plusses never expire.

If I understand your questions correctly, you have quantity three of 7 day hoppers minus two day of of hopping but all pluses intact, which means you have quantity three five day hoppers plus four.

The bad news: no, you can't "swipe the card twice." The card will only activate on plus at the same location. If I'm mistaken about this, someone let us know, but the card will only activate one plus against a single attraction on a given date. On of the purposes of the pass is to allow you multiple entrances/exits in a given day. Example: if you went to Typhoon Lagoon and left for a while, how do you get back in? Without wasting another plus? You swipe the card, it knows you've been there so it doesn't take another plus off. They check your hand for a stamp (to make sure you're not giving your card to anyone else), and they let you back in. You can use two pluses in one day at different locations. Example: if you go to TL today and Pleasure Island tonight, you've spent two pluses? Make sense?

The good news: The parks options are independent of the plus options. Meaning if you use all five park options, the plus options are still there and useable.
