Park in front of Castle?

Departed WDW Jan 30 & wall was still around park in front of Castle & park had been demolished (checked it out through peephole!). No CMs talking about what was going to be done in that area. Does anyone know what's up?

Hi!

The "Hub" area in front of the Castle has been refurbished; they have removed the curbs (I'll bet they did it because of folks who had tripped and fell while gawking at the Castle) and have made the entire area level. The "Partners" Statue and the smaller statues are still there. They just made the place safer.

Thanks for the info! I was hoping they hadn't completely nuked the "park" look. I was thinking they might be trying to improve viewing for the show in front of the Castle.

Improving the view was one of the reasons for the rehab as well. The larger trees have been moved, and smaller ones have been installed. There is also a lot more standing room than there used to be.

I have quite a few pictures of the new hub. The last of the walls came down the other day. You can see what they look like in the MK March 18 album.

Hey Safetymom -- Thanks for the photos of "The hub." This will take some getting used to! Like what they've done for Walt & Mick -- looks good. Not certain the Grandkids will approve, however. They're upset at the moment that the "horse & hearse" are gone from the Haunted Mansion entrance area (at least they weren't there in January).
