Our family will be spending several days at Universal during the week of May 13th. I saw that both parks close at 6:00 on Friday. I know that Universal does not have the same late night hours as Disney does but a 6:00 closing seems odd especially on a Friday night. Is there an event scheduled that requires the park to close that early or is this normal? I did look and saw that both parks are scheduled to close at 6:00 the Friday before as well.

Friday nights in April and May are usually held for Grad Bash and Gradventure - Universal's high school and middle school grad events.

thank you

No problem...also FYI...we were there this past year on one of those May Fridays and the parks were VERY busy with middle school groups!
You may want to avoid IOA and USF on that day (hang out at the resort or head to Volcano Bay day) if that sounds unappealing to you.

Thanks for the heads up. We have the buy 2 get 2 days free tickets so maybe we will just go early since we are staying at Cabana Bay and enjoy the afternoon at the pool. Curious, how were the crowds the days before and after grad night?

The earlier part of the week was fine and we checked out Saturday morning so I can't comment on that day, unfortunately.
