Do the Universal parks ever stay open later than 8pm?

I think it's odd that in early June the Universal parks are only scheduled to be open until 8pm. Meanwhile the Disney parks are open until at least 9pm to the general public, with the exception of AK which closes at 8pm.

I think its due to alot of people take thier vacations later in june due to schools getting out cause some get out later than others in june and I have taken vacations in early june and its always been those closing hours and thats why I now take it in July for the longer park hours

Interesting. Most schools here are finished the first week of June unless there was a lengthy teachers' strike or harsh winter causing the term to be extended.
Even Dorneypark is open until 10:00 Fri-Sun in early Jun, but only until 8:00 mid-week.

If you take a look at the park hours calendar, you'll see that in late June, July and early August, both IOA and US are open until 10:00 pm

Ah. I was looking at early-June, 1st or 2nd week. They aren't open until 10 until the very last weekend of June. I just find that strange. Do they not have lighting to keep the parks open later earlier in the season?

Yes they have plenty of lighting

I agree it is way too early and we loved going in early June but like I said thats the main reason why we started going in July

I've never liked the fact they close at 6pm during the off months. Locals have no chance of going to the parks until the weekend except during the summer and holiday times. I think it has something to do with Universal being inside the Orlando city limits and noise ordinances. Remember...Universal is pretty much surrounded by residential areas.

Universal at night can look like daytime so it's not the lighting or lack of lighting.

I didn't realize that the resort was within city limits. That could very well be the explanation for the "early" closing times.

My very first job was at Dorneypark! I was a lifeguard at Wild Water Kingdom. Geez that was lifetimes ago

i read where due to noise ordinances, some of the rides such as the Hulk, have limitations on week day hours when they run in the evening time.
