We are debating buying the Park Hopper vs. the Magic Your Way tickets. Since it is way cheaper to buy an 8 day Magic Your Way ticket than it is to buy a 4 day Park Hopper, are you allowed use one day of your ticket at one park and then move to another park and use another day of your ticket, all in the same day.
(does that make sense?)
Has anyone ever done this before?

Hi MinnieMania!

Magic Your Way is the broad term for all Disney tickets. Park hopping is an add-on you can purchase as part of the Magic Your Way ticket. If you purchase your tickets without the park hopper option, it is called a Magic Your Way base ticket.

The answer to your question about park hopping is no. You can not purchase an 8 day base ticket and use two ticket days on the same calendar day. If you want to visit more than one park per day, you must purchase the park hopper option.

Enjoy your vacation!

Why would that be? How would you know that she just came to Epcot from MK or her car? (ie I could choose to arrive at the park at 1pm, even if I hadn't just come from another park?) I just thought it would cost you 2 base tickets for the day.

I believe that all of the turnstiles are computerized. Therefore they know which tickets were used at which gates. For example, you can't get a FP with a ticket that was not used at a turnstile for that park that day.

That's correct. The computer system tracks where you have been. If you try to enter a second (different) park without the hopper option, the computer system will not allow you to enter. If you want to go to more than one park a day, there's no way to do it but to upgrade with a hopper option.

ZoZo is correct. The turnstiles are computerized, and tracks which parks you've been to. You can not use more than one ticket day per calendar, so you can not purchase more ticket days than you intend to use and try to use more than one ticket day on the same calendar day. You must purchase the park hopper option in order to visit more than one park per day.

Can't do that. Once you are admitted, the ticket can't be used again that day at any other park, unless you have a parkhopper.

You put the ticket into a computer scanner at the entrance. The system knows if you've been in a park that day. If you don't have the parkhopping option, it won't allow you to enter a second park on the same day.

Please check the sticky thread at top of theme park boards. A full explanation is there with nearly every question you could ask already answered.

The answer is a resounding no, btw. Your admission on a MYWbase ticket is for one day one park one calendar date. Your ticket will spit back out of the machine and you will be asked to go to guest services and purchase the hopper option if you would like to enter a different park on that same day.
By adding the hopper option to your MYW ticket, you will be allowed to enter any park any day as many different parks as you like and only one admission will be deducted off your ticket per calendar day. This refers to the 4 main parks only of course.

Since the additional days beyond 4 all cost about $2 more a day, and the hopper option is a flat fee of $45 for however many days you wish to purchase, you can see it is a considerable difference. If you want to hop, you have to pay to hop!!

Have a magical trip!

If I had to choose between an 8 day base and a 4 day hopper I would definately go with the 8 day base ticket. But if you don't use all the days you would have to pay a non-exp. fee for the full 8 day ticket to be able to use them on another trip. If you have an 8 day base you can go in and out of the parks more leisurely than cramming it all into 4 days. We have purchased myw base tickets to save some money on our past 2 trips and we have'nt missed not being able to park hop, but I'm sure there will be dissers or disagree with me. Linda:)

2005 we didn't PH but we stayed for 10 days - 2006 we park hopped stayed for 9 days - 2007 we had hopper stayed for 5 days but only hopped 2x's so we felt for 2008 we'd extend the trip for 9 days instead of hopping - it got so taxing that we'd rather relax and take the trip leisurely instead of having to jump from park to park
