Need to buy our 3 day park hopper tickets for August - we will be there Thurs 14, fri 15 & Sat 16 before our PC repo cruise.

Was thinking of buying at Disney Store so we have the hard plastic tickets instead of paper ones (if we ordered online) they are same price.

OR......I noticed a lot of folks order from getawaytoday.com - these tickets you pick up at will call BUT you get 2 early entry mornings BUT it seems to cost about $10 more. Is that extra early morning worth it???

I really like the idea of the credit card like ticket and having it in hand when we get there. I am not sure what the crowds will be like but we are preparing ourselves for the worst - this is our first visit to DL - we have been to DW before. I am not sure if we want to be picking up tickets at will call window.

What do you guys think? Extra magic hour worth it?

I just looked at disney and getaway. They are the same price for a 3 day hopper, $139 & $169. Are you talking about the $10 handling fee at getaway? Use code "podcast". It takes $10 off making it the same price as DL. You'd have paper tickets rather than plastic cards but since you'll only be there for 3 days they should hold up and you'd get 2 mms.

If you're flying in on Wed. (prior to the Thurs. MM) & leaving sometime Sat. (so you can use MM on Sat.), I definitely think it's worth it.

- Time change will be your friend (for early morning MM).
- MM is the best time to ride all FL rides on one day & non FL rides the other day.
- & then you'd be starting 2 of your 3 days efficiently (at rope drop) on your FP collections (very important in August, imo)

For 10 bucks it's a no brainer for me to have the extra morning MM. (I assume you're not staying onsite.)

Have fun. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the responses everyone. So picking up tickets on Thursday morning which would be an EE morning would not be an issue? What time do you think we would need to be there at the park to pick up tickets so that we could get straight into the park on EE that day?

I think when Hound wrote "If you're flying in on Wed. (prior to the Thurs. MM)", he was possibly meaning to pick them up that evening, assuming ticket booths are open...

I am NOT an expert in picking up tickets before things are open, b/c when I was buying tickets I was at the mercy of my brother and SIL who, for some silly reason, didn't see the point in getting there an hour before the parks opened. :upsidedow

We are flying in on Wed. night but won't arrive in LAX until after 8:45pm, by the time we get our luggage and get to Hojos it may be after 10:00-10:30 or so. We are flying from the East Coast so our time might be around 1:30am - with two lids, not so sure we want to attempt that.

We would def. have to pick up tickets on Thurs morning. We would want to be there before they opened and in plenty of time to get there for early entry. Not sure what time the parks normally open during the summer months.

I can't help you on picking up your tickets, but I must say, if it is $10 for MM, I highly recommend it. Heck, we will pay the big bucks to stay at the Paradise Pier that time of year so we have Magic Mornings (we have AP's). That extra hour is very nice.

I'm bumping this because there's got to be someone who knows how Getaway works. Is it:

- Best to get the tickets ahead of time in the mail?
- Possible to get the tickets & 10-11pm at night from the booth the night before?
- Possible to get the tickets at 7:30am (assuming an 8am MM/EE opening)?
(& btw, for sure after going thru Security, the family can line up at the gate at 30 min. before MM opening, while you spend 5-10 minutes at the booth (a few yards away) picking up the tickets.

Any Getaway experts out there?

.

Can't answer specifically but what I can do it check out the ticket booths this weekend. I'll be lining up Sat morning for a 7am MM (park opens at 8). So I'll glance over and see if there are any booths or Guest Services open yet.

On Thursday morning (August 14), the MM/EE gates should open at 7:00am, but the DL ticket booths won't open until 7:30am. :sad1:

According to DLR Guest Relations, the DL ticket booths open 30 minutes before the "regular" DL park opening time, and the DL ticket booths stay open until 30 minutes before DL park closes. In mid-August the summer hours for DL park should be 8:00am to 12:00 midnight (see the hours for August 2007 here). If DL opens at 8:00am, then the MM/EE gates would open at 7:00am.

On Wednesday night, August 13, the DL ticket booths should be open until 11:30 pm.

As mentioned above, on Thursday morning, August 14, the DL ticket booths should open at 7:30am, which is 30 minutes after MM/EE starts.

Unfortunately, GetAwayToday does not mail actual tickets. :sad1: To get the actual paper tickets, the buyer has to present a photo I.D. at a DL ticket booth.

This information can be confirmed by calling GAT at (866)FUN-TRIP, and DLR Guest Relations at (714)781-7290, but I think my understanding is correct.

Thanks for all the info.............I guess now that I know all this it would be best just to get either paper tickets from Disneyland.com OR get them through the Disney Store.
