Do you all usually add the park hopper option onto your tickets? I am wondering if we really would go to different parks in the same day.
we are staying at the CBR.......kids are 7 and 4 and LOVE to swim in resort pools, so I suspect some portion of the day will be spent at the pool.

We don't hop only because it seems to take up a lot of time depending on where you're hopping to. On days that we finish a park early, we like to go back and relax/swim. It works for us but others love to hop.

We usually split the parks up mornings and nights with a break to swim and nap in between. If we are happy with what we have accomplished on our first half of the day, we go to a seperate park. If we want to do more of the park we have been to we go back. Sometimes we even have ADRs in a different park from where we were. Hoppers give us that option.
We also love evening shows, but some shows like Spectro don't happen nightly. So with hoppers we are assured that we can see the show even though we may spend our mornings somewhere else.
Is it worth it? It really depends on your touring style. If you know you will never use the option, don't buy it.

I did add the park hopper option .............I figured it out to be an extra $191 for the 4 tix to add it, and I figure since its our first time there I don't know for sure if we will use it, so I would rather have it than not have it..........and in the grand scheme of how much this trip is costing $191 is not much.........LOL

We always add the park hopper option to our tickets for a few different reasons. Like other posters, we like to spend mornings in one park and maybe hop to a different park for the evening. For us, Animal Kingdom is not an all day park. We enjoy spending time there, but would not spend all day there. So, we can hop to a different park when we are done at AK. Also, we tend to do a lot of the early EMH but then leave around 11-noon when that park gets too crowded. Even without EMH, you may find you have picked a park for the day that is way more crowded than you like. With the hopper option, you can go to a different, less-crowded park. Another thought is that if you are going at a time of the year when some of the parks close early, it is nice to be able to hop to another park which is open later.

Just my .02.......................

if we buy our tickets from the disney store, once we get there and say where in a park, can we add park hopper that day ?

Yes, you can always upgrade the tickets later, as long as it is within 14 days of the first use of the ticket. But, you can't downgrade later, so that is why it is sometimes better to not add on a feature until later if you're not sure if you are going to use it.

We always get the park hopper. I just like the flexibility of changing our location in case we want something different to do, the park we're at gets too crowded, we have dinner reservations elsewhere, etc. I wouldn't do it if I was only staying a few days and planned on seeing every park; then it would be too much running around. But if you're there for a handful of days, then I say it's worth it. ;)

We didn't end up using the hopper feature last time, so we didn't purchase it for our upcoming trip. We just thought it was easier with little ones to plan for one park and day plus naps/swimming, etc.

Yes you can add it later but it will cost you the same as if you added it in the first place. it is for all the days same price for the upgrade.

I would never even consider going to Disney without having hoppers. We normally go to one park in the morning leave about 2 go back to hotel and shower, nap, swim etc. dress fresh and head to a different park for the night.

Also some times you might be doing one park that day but want to eat in another park later, or go see the fireworks at a different park etc.
It is so worth it for the flexibility. If you are there and have done one park a day and decide you want to go to a different park that night, you pay the same as if you had had the hoppers all along, or you don't get to go to a second park that day period.

We got the hopper on our last trip and used it once. On our last day I realized I had not gotten a Dole Whip from MK while we were there. So we stopped by MK before heading to MGM. Not a good enough reason to buy it this trip so we are skipping it!

I think it depends on how much time you have and the time of year too. If you only have a couple of days and just want to hit the highlights, then you need to hop. But if you have a week or more you can tour more leisurely.
If parks are open late it's easy to hop but when we went to MK about 1 month ago, it closed at 7 so if one wanted to hop say from AK to MK, it doesn't really extend your day by much. OTOH, if MK were open til midnight, it would be worth it.
Even back before MYW, when all tickets were hoppers w/ no exp. we rarely hopped. I guess it's just our touring style.
You could buy tickets w/o hopping and add it on later at GS if you get the urge. :goodvibes

When we usually go to wdw the parks are open fairly late and it's hot (early september) so we always hop. It allows us to go back to our resort, relax and swim and then head back to a different park in the evening. Also we just like the flexibility. If we get to a park and it's unexpectedly crowded, no worries we just shoot to another park.
After spending a couple of grand on a vacation, the $200 extra bucks is not going to make a big difference for me.

If the budget is not a major concern, I think the hopper option is great for flexibility. I always get it whether it is WDW or DLR.

No hopping here. I don't think my DH could take it ;)

Thanks i went ahead and Didnt buy the park hopper pass, if we really want it i will add it once were down there. we are only planning on going to ak and epcot!!

I finally used the last of my 10-trip hopper on my last trip. I'm going later this week and am looking at ticket options. Does anyone know if you can use a single base ticket in one park and then use a second day at a second park? Basically, I know that there is one day when I want to take advantage of EMH at a second park, but it seems such a waste to buy a hopper for that. Adding an extra day to the base is only another four dollars per person. Would that work?? Seems too easy...

Nope, you can't go to 2 parks in one day unless you have a hopper pass. You can't count it as 2 days.

Everyone has a different style of touring. We always get hoppers - on our trip last month, we hopped every single day. But that's mostly because we go to the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot.. We start out at a different park in the morning, then hop to Epcot in the afternoon.

It's also nice to have a hopper when you are going to a park that doesn't take call day (like Animal Kingdom, MGM, a water park), because you can do something else in the afternoon/evening.

I'd suggest getting a ticket without a hopper option to start with -- then add the hopper feature after you arrive at WDW if you decide you want to hop. You may find that you don't want to hop at all -- then you won't have wasted the money on the hopper feature.

As another poster says, if you want to go to more than one park in a day, you need to buy the hopper option. The WDW computer tracks where you have been, so you can't enter the second park without the hopper option.

Here's the easiest way to think about the tickets - a 10-day ticket is good for ten days, not ten admissions to the parks. You can only go to one park per day (without the hopper option).
