Park Hopper or 7 Day Pass???

If I get a 5 day pass for my family with park hopper and water park option, it cost $1038.
A 7 day pass with water park option ONLY (no park hopper) is $914.
I plan on going to the parks for 5 days, water parks for 2 days and perhaps hopping between 2 parks on 2 days.
So, the way I see it if I buy the 7 day pass I will have 2 extra days to use like a park hopper (using two single day passes in the same day) and it cost me $124 LESS than buying the 5 day pass with park hopper option!

Is there anything wrong with this logic?

If you don't by the Hopper option, your ticket will NOT ALLOW you to go to more than one park in one day (it will reject the use at the second park's gate).

This is one of THE most Frequently Asked Questions (and hottest topics) on this board.

Everyone seems to think of this "option" and wonders why its not allowed.

Long story-short. Its not. ;)

I'm constantly amazed by the number of times this very subject comes up on the Disboards. Couldn't a sticky be made with the title "Yes, you really do need a park hopper ticket to park hop"? :confused3

Sorry, won't work that way. Think of your MYW ticket as entrance to the major theme parks for X number of days, not X number of entries. Once you use your ticket at a theme park your ticket is tagged to you and that park. Only you can use it to re-enter and only at that park unless its a park hopper. You just can't use two days on your ticket on one day.

For reference, here is the link to the FAQ on the official Disney website:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...tateProvince=DE

Per the official site:
"Magic Your Way base tickets give each member of your travel party entry to one theme park a day each day of your ticket."

A better explanation although not an "official" website is at allears:
http://allearsnet.com/pl/ticket.htm#8

"Am I allowed to use two days off of my MYW Base ticket (non-hopping) if I decide I want to go to a second park on the same day as the first?

No you are not. The tickets are sold and the computer system is based on the number of days you have, not the number of park visits. Once you have used a non-park hopping ticket at any park, the computer system will not let you use it at another park on the same day."

In short if you want to park hop you must add on the park hopper feature.

PP's, ITA - a stickey is a great idea!

Sounds right to me.

The reason I asked the board, is the disney reservation clerk said that this could be done. She said that there was not a restriction if you use 7 days worth of tickets up in 5 days by using 2 in one day (in a pseudo park hopper fashion).

But I get the message from everyone, thanks for clarifying it!

You will find that Disney CM's can be some of the least knowledgable people about Disney you can find.

Unfortunately, there are NUMEROUS examples of this. I had one who told me I would have to get 2 rooms at AKL because it doesn't have rooms that fit 5 people. Of course, this is not true and I knew much more about it than she did.

Then there are the dining CM's who people end up on the phone with that don't know what a customer means when they say they want to make ADR's.

I think the problem is when the questions is asked via telephone it gets mixed up in the translation. If you had 7 separate MYW tickets you could use as many as you wanted in one day but that would be very expensive.

Just my speculation of course ??

We've GOT to FIND that clerk. :goodvibes
She's always stirring up trouble with her misinformation about this.

Its not the first time a CM on the phone has boggled this point.
And it can cause some serious PROBLEMS for un-knowing guests who buy the wrong tickets, get "locked-out" at a second theme-park, and then think they're being "scammed" into buying a hopper option by the front gate of that park.
