We had dinner there in early April. I would not call the food "upscale," but I would call it family-friendly. We went with my parents and three-year-old, and while the food didn't knock our socks off, there was something for everyone. There was mongolian beef with rice and stir fry as well as more "traditional" dishes like chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes, and green beans. There were many kid options (chicken strips, pizza, etc.) and a sizable dessert buffet. Food was all a proper temperature and the chefs were attentive to questions.
As
@beesly noted, it is fairly crowded. We had a 4:25 ADR and it filled up quickly in the first half hour. It doesn't ruin the dinner, but it's something to be aware of.
The character interactions were totally fine - the same as most other places. We got the three Tremaines + Cinderella + Prince Charming, which I think is par for the course. The stepsisters are especially enjoyable, as many others here have said.
In summary, was it our favorite meal of the trip? Nope; we like breakfasts at Garden Grill and Tusker House better. But it was not bad by any means, and DD absolutely loved it. We would go again.
