Hi everyone,

It's been a long time since I've been on the boards as we've had no prospect of a trip :confused3 . We had prioritised having a more relaxing family holiday this year, so we had a fortnight in Cornwall over Easter, but there is now a good chance we will be able to afford a disney fix too over the summer. :goodvibes

We haven't mentioned to the children yet in case it doesn't work out but after our last trip in 2012 our oldest dd was very keen to visit Paris on our next trip. She really wanted to see the Eiffel tower but what else in Paris would it be good to do with children (11, 9 and 6)?

My thinking at the moment is that we will go up the Eiffel Tower, take a look at Notre Dame and then take a Foxcity bus tour that I found recommended on a very old post by Carrie Cat to grab a passing look at the other sights.

I am thinking we might actually do this on our arrival day. I'm wondering if anyone knows of somewhere we could park the car on the outskirts of Paris and easily get the train into the city? It seems a bit silly to drive past Paris to get to Disney and then come back on the train if we don't need to.

I can't help you with the parking I'm afraid but a park to visit in Paris that is a little bit different and very child friendly is the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. It is situated in the 19th, on Rue Botzaris. It is built in a former quarry and there are rocky outcrops and cliffs, meandering paths, a lake, waterfall, grotto, temple and bridges.

Thanks cherrymarzipan, that sounds like a fantastic park. I shall add it to my possible list and look it up. :goodvibes

I'm afraid I can't help with parking either but can recommend the science museum even though everything is in French. My two daughters (then 7 & 4) loved it but think it would be even better for older children. Our favourite part was the thermal imaging room!

We also did the Arc de Triomphe. Stayed up there for ages admiring the view of the Eiffel Tower at dusk and watching the crazy drivers below! Then we walked to the tower for the light show later.

Thanks for that my hubby was quite keen on visiting the science museum but I was a bit worried that we wouldn't be able to understand anything. :goodvibes

Still not sure how long we will have in Paris. I wanted to go on the day we arrive so we can do Paris, stay offsite that night then be ready to check into our disney hotel first thing the following morning to take advantage of EMH. I didn't see any point in paying Disney hotel prices for a day to spend it in Paris. The trouble with this plan is that we won't even have a full day in Paris and the more I look into it the more there is to do. The other option would be to move offsite for our last night and do Paris the following day but that would mean being in Paris on a Saturday which doesn't seem like a great idea either!
