We are going into Paris when on Sunday after we check into the hotel. Does anyone know what is the best stop to get off at to see the sights, and roughly how much train tickets are?

Buy a Mobilis ticket (zones 1-5) from the ticket machines, should cost around €15. From Chessy, central Paris is about 40 minutes on RER A. The round trip we did two weeks ago was :

1. Etoille station for Arc De Triomphe and Champs Elysees.
2. Trocadero station for the iconic view of Eiffel Tower from Musee de l'Homme.
3. Bir Hakeim station to Anvers (blue metro) for Sacre Coeur.
4. Denfert Rocherau station for the Ossuary (Catacombs).
5. Chatelet/Les Halles station for Louvre etc
6. Cite or St Denis station for Notre Dame, Palais de Justice, and Chapelle. Can also walk from Chatelet/Louvre
.
The leaflet for the Paris Visite card lists other stations near the touristy bits.

By all means if you need to buy a ticket at the Marne la Vallée station remember to go at off-peak hours, like midnight or super early in the morning.

This station is incredibly not scaled to handle the load of tourists during the day… I do not get it, why do they not add 10 or 20 ticket-vending machines… that would barely be enough when everyone is trying to buy its tickets…

You can easily walk from Trocadero station to the Eiffel Tower, with a great view on the way. We visited the Eiffel Tower and took a short boat cruise from the terminal that was at the base of the Eiffel Tower. Then we walked back up to the station. It was fun!

get the RATP app - it's free and is really helpful to use the metro and RER trains and deciding where you want to get off to visit things. :)
