Parents of or people who know 14 year old boys... UPDATE: more info post #1

This thread is a perfect example of how every kid is different.

Some of the things mentioned, my 14 y/o would never want, other things, he would.

The $5 increments of Fast Food = Yes.

The GameStop = No. (GameStop annoys both of us)

The iPod Docking Station = No (He spent $200 something dollars over his birthday for computer speakers)

The Movie Passes = Maybe. 2 years ago, yes - not so much now.

He likes DVD's. He actually want's seasons of Seinfeld, South Park or Always Sunny.

My older son at 14 would have liked any DVD. You should see his collection - Old Movies (Say Anything, Red Dawn) to new movies.

My now 14 y/o also wants some program for his computer that he can make "beats" on. He wants to rap. :confused3

Both the boys have always adored pajama bottoms. They get some every year. The wackier - the better...Mario, Ninja Turtles, South Park, The Wii logo....heck, my older son has one's that say "It's just a flesh wound" - all found at Kohl's. Both my boys are those one's there have been DIS threads about.... the one's regarding wearing pajama bottoms as pants. ;)

And MC or VISA giftcards, or cold hard cash is always a good thing.

Okay, here are some of the things I got my nephews, ages 14 & 16

game stop gc

itunes gc

Miami Ink thermal shirt (dn is REALLY into cross images, this has a big "tattoo" cross on the chest and smaller matching ones on the sleeves)

lounge pant and t shirt pj's in Halo theme

And the biggest hit, I got skins for the ipod, ordered from Skinit.com, they have every theme you can think of, from sports to Disney. My dh16 is crazy about Nightmare Before Christmas, so that's what his was; we already exchanges gifts as he will be out of state for Christmas, and this gift was THE big hit, but cost is really low, $15 each.

Kids are so different at that age, with so many different interests...

My 14 yr old grandson is into skateboarding and he and his friends like to tape themselves skating and then upload the recordings onto You Tube.

My daughter found a video recorder ($40.00 on sale at Sears) that records for 60 min and uploads to YouTube with one push of a button. It will also hook to the tv so they can watch the recordings on there or upload to the computer to save.

Maybe your 14 yr old would like something like this for his soccer games?

His other faves include GCs for fast food and movies and clothing (esp rock band tees from Hot Topic). He also likes long sleeve t's or thermal shirts to wear under his short-sleeve t's.

Good luck with your search!

Okay you added soccer so that is in my son's radar. You could get him a good soccer ball (find out what size his league uses) or a soccer jersey from the team he enjoys watching. My son is a Manchester United fan... Please note I put an "or" between these gifts as they each would run in the $50.00 range.

My DS has probably 8-10 soccer balls at all times. He uses each for different reasons. And if all else fails you can get him a gift card now from DicksSportingGoods Store.

I have a 14yo soccer player son. They use a size 5 (full size) ball at that age. Check soccer.com and worldsoccershop.com for balls, t-shirts, etc. Lots of stuff in the $30-50 range.

My 14 yo is getting, among other things, an Axe gift set, Jake Cologne from Holister, fast food gift cards and a Life Is Crap T-Shirt. It's a funny tshirt with a skier dangling from a ski lift. There is a soccer one also where the ref is holding a red card.

Here are some of DS's favorites:

Sports team clothing (especially hooded sweatshirts and basketball shirts)
Movie tickets
Event tickets (sports, concerts, comedy, etc.)
Gift cards to restaurants (Applebees, Subway, Olive Garden, etc.)
DVDs
Xbox games or accessories. If he has Xbox and Xbox Live gift card it always a hit

I also have a 14yr old DS who loves soccer. I do a good amount of his shopping at soccer.com, they have any and everything.;)

I'll echo this. DS is 12, and is a soccer player, and he'll literally spend an hour online at soccer.com just 'looking around' at stuff. They have plenty of stuff for $50 and under.
