By the time we get to the world, the boys will be over 3 and a half. I think the whole sitting in cars watching TV part sounds great, but I'm unsure about the seating arrangements. Anyone have opinions on how well this works with your little ones? We're not doing hoppers this trip, so we will probably need to dine at DHS one night. So it's between this and 50s PTC... I think I may be leaning towards this one, but the seating thing has me hung up! Thanks!

We've done it with children younger than 3 and they love it. However, I must admit I don't have twins. When our kids were younger, my husband would sit with one child and I would sit by the other. Just put the kids on the inside. The cars seat 2 in front, 2 in middle and 2 in back. You will probably share with a couple.

I think best bet is one parent with one boy in the front seat, the other parent in the back seat with the other boy.
It can be a little awkward turning around from the front seat to the back to talk/pass food - it's not a problem really, but if a child needs help with something with their meal, just easier to have a parent sitting right next to them instead of it sat both kids together, then you guys would be straining back and forth to help them I think. Really best off one parent with one boy in each row of the car.
and should definitely do it - my kids LOVE it and surely yours will enjoy sitting in the cars and watching the movies!

My son.. first time we went there, he was SOOO confused:rotfl: He got in the car, looked around like okay, what's this ride gonna do - then saw utensils and just the look on his face, so confused!

We've eaten pretty much everywhere, but haven't done Sci-Fi due to the movies. Are they scary for young kids?

Seating doesn't sound like a problem, but the movies do! Tiger :)

We loved Sci-Fi. My youngest was 5 when we went and I would suggest what others have already said .. 1 child with 1 parent per seat. I worried about the movies as well but they are short clips from the silly, old Sci-Fi movies. It really was neat. And someone correct me if I'm wrong ... I believe there are also picnic type tables. I was sure to request a car when I made my reservations.

My little one loved it when he was 4, however I remember it being very cold (movie theater cold LOL). Is it always that way or were we just in a bad spot?

Mine were 4 & 2 at the time and loved it! We are going this Nov. and they are now 9, 8, and 2 and ard very excited about going to eat at the sci-fi.

My twin boys loved it at age 4. We sat one adult, one child in a row. That said-for some reason, they were a little freaked out at the movie clips last trip (they were 6). I don't know why, as they love Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc (lots of action and battle scenes) I just think they may not have got all the kitschy humor and were hung up on the monsters.. Then again, they don't like the Yeti on EE, but LOVE RNRC.

Side note-if you eat at Sci Fi, you (and the kids) can get a shake as your beverage..and they are HUGE (and good!)

Have a great trip!!! :wizard:

We did Sci-Fi when my DD was 4 years old and she still talks about the time we "ate in the cars." She's in college now!

I still remember the horrible horrible food we were served so that was our one & only trip to the Sci-Fi. I have heard it's improved since then.

Ok great thanks!! Sounds like seating-wise it should work then! And thanks for bringing up the movie clips-- I hadn't even thought about the content!! Is there anything to worry about there? I guess I just assumed it was Disney... and well, if anyone can do kid friendly, it's Disney. But what all do they show?

Our DDs didn't mind the seating arrangement but I did! It really felt like we weren't together as a family. Middle DD sat in front by herself while oldest & youngest DDs were in middle, DH & I in back seat (sounds like high school :lmao:). Anyway... We couldn't have a conversation & felt like DD in front seat was so far away. We weren't impressed with the food at all. I have read lots of great reviews but I doubt we'll give it another shot. The movie clips were really cheesy, not scary at all.

My 3 year old girl loved it - one of the only restaurants she has asked to go back to.

She sat in the front with me and my husband sat behind. Another couple were seated as 'hitchhikers'.

She was in the 'drivers' seat and thought it was great. I've read the servers sometimes give licences - she didn't get one, do they sometimes still do thaat? She liked the film clips - not scared at all.

Bought her a light up tinkerbell drink which worked really well as the restaurant is dark.

Go - they'll love it. I'm saving prime time for when she is a little older and will understand the teasing.

My DD hated Sci Fi. She hated the campy horror flick clips. It's mostly silly looking aliens, monsters etc, but she ate her entire meal with her head down and refused to look up :)

The movie clips are either the old hokey b-movies like the 50ft woman and attack of the killer tomatoes or short sci-fi cartoons like tom and jerry. My youngest has requested this restaurant every year since she was 3. It's very nice on a hot florida day to get in there where it's cool and semi-dark to just sit and relax. I do agree with the PP's it is more of a lunch type restaurant then a dinner. They do serve burgers, etc. but they are better than the burgers at quick service.

The movie clips frightened our boys when they were about 7. I think Disney realized that was an issue and now they've toned it down. There are more cartoons and silly things between clips. There are still clips of martians, etc., but interspersed with funny clips so the whole thing seems less intense.

We went there last year when my boys were 3 1/2 and 1. My 1 yr. old slept in the car until the last 15 min., but my 3 1/2 year old loved it! He was so interested in the funny movies (which are NOT scary) that he didn't notice/care that his mom and brother were sitting behind him. That being said, if you sid in the 2nd or 3rd row of the car, your view will be fine. We had a couple sitting behind us in the 3rd row of the car. I thought that it was going to be awkward, but it wasn't. They didn't bother us, but I hope that we weren't too loud for them....
It was one of our son's favorites and we plan to go again this September. I hope that my 2 yr. old stays awake for the fun!

Love it!!!

My son was 2 and very much enjoyed sitting in a car and watching the "tv". There was a short cartoon of Tom and Jerry too(one of his favs)

We prefer lunch when it first opens up. And we go every year we make it to Disney.
