We are cruising in October when our DD will be 2. We originally booked the late dinner. She was staying up a lot later when we decided this. Now, she goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 PM. I am thinking that we should switch to the early seating so DD can eat with us and then try to put her in Flounders after dinner for a little while so we can have some couple time.

What does everyone else do with kids this age?

I personally don't have children, however on our last cruise it was a family affair. There were 15 of us and 4 were children ranging in ages from 6-9. We chose the late seating because we are from the west coast and the time difference made it perfect. Now I know this sounds but I can't remember the time difference from Ohio to Fl. but if it's enough then you might want to stick with the late seating. The plus with keeping the late seating with children is the evening show. I noticed that there were a lot of sleepy kids in the second show, having just ate themselves silly.

I will have a 2 yo on our cruise in Dec. I booked the late seating and ended up changing it to early. I really like the idea of the earlier show but last week we were out in a restaurant for a late dinner (8pm) and my 7 year old was falling asleep at the table. He usually stays up until 9:30 or 10 on weekends with no problem. I decided the late seating might be too late for the kids. Also, I have no idea what kind of schedule my little one will be on 9 months from now.

She will be starving by the late seating..you have a great idea..early seating and then some adult time in the club.

I would go with that one.

Just got back from my cruise with my 20 month old. Not 2 but close. We did the early seating and then we would go back to the room put her in pajamas and bring her to flounders reef which she loved. She would play there for a little bit and then they would put her out back to sleep. She loved it there, and we enjoyed having some time to ourselves to have a few drinks, go swimming in the adult pool, and to do some dancing at wavebands. So if you can get early seating I would say do it, sign up for Flounder's reef when you get onboard and enjoy some alone time!! (seeing as that doesn't happen often.):teeth:

Lunanh,
Were you limited as to the number of times that you could sign up for Flounder's? Also, I know your little one loved it, but sometimes my 2 1/2 yr old gets "antsy" for mommy. Will they just page me in the middle of my spa experience of dinner at Palo's if he decides he's done being at Flounder's?
Thanks for any help...

They will page you if your little one gets upset. We got a page 15 minutes before we were scheduled to pick our son up. They said he had been asking for us. He seemed a little sad, but no red, crying eyes or anything like that. Maybe they would distract them a bit more if they knew you were in Palo or something.

I was surprised that our two year old did as well as he did there. When we first went in, I was surprised at how "babyish" the space seemed and was concerned he would be bored. His two cousins were there with him too, so that may have helped.

Thanks for your replies. I e-mailed my TA to have her try to change us to early seating.

lurontravel -

We dropped our kids off in the Club both times we went to Palo. They made a note that we were going to Palo and if required, would have tried as hard as they could not to page us. No pages for us! I am sure they will do the same in Flounder's

When we dropped off our little one there was what they call the "brush fire effect" when one kid starts crying they all start crying. They try there hardest to try and calm the kids and I think they will try there hardest to not page you. I think your child will have fun with the other children and the new toys. They seemed to love cuddling with the children. Hopefully your child will love it too!
When I signed up for Flounder's I was allowed to make three choices. Then they tell you to call back the next day if you want the last day or which ever day you didn't choose. I never called back but they automatically put you on the wait list. I believe I could have gotten the last night, but I didn't want to ..had too much packing, and was tired from everything!
Good luck with everything, and I hope you have a great cruise experience!!!! If you have anymore questions just let me know, i'll try my best:teeth: Kristy

I said the same thing....my daughter was 2 1/2 and thought it was very babyish. The only thing there for her to really do was the TV, most of the toys were for 1 year olds in my opinion!
