Parents night out w/ DDP??

I'm trying to figure out how to do a parents' night out while using the 2008 DDP, without it messing everything up. We'll be at CBR, so I'd be using a babysitter. I know ordering pizza to the room is an option using 2 adult TS meals - but then I'd be using 4 (!) adult TS meals in one shot (or 6 if we did signature dining!), and have extra kid TS meals. Is there a way around this??? Or is this the death knell for the DDP? (I'm already considering ditching it due to preferring appetizers to dessert.)

Feed the kids before you go out. Or have the babysitter take them to the food court to eat. Or get counter service right before you leave, and have the babysitter feed them.

How old are the children? Can you leave them at a kids club? $10 per hour, per kid and dinner included. they do have to be over 4yos though.

Now your children will have 2 TS left over, you can convert them to 2 counter services. I don't know if that's the official rules, but I was able to do it 2 times already, just talk to the manager of the food court.

Dd is 3.5 yrs, so kids clubs aren't an option.

Hmm...I'm still waffling - it just seems like the convenience is dwindling...

While you are getting ready, send DH to the food court, get your DD a dinner to go and problem solved, I think the DDP is fantastic, don't let this tiny tiny glitch lead you astray :goodvibes

I agree with the PP's--feed the kids before you go at the food court. Use your TS credits for a nice dinner with dh. That leaves you with 2 extra kids' TS credits, which I would use for a character breakfast (paying OOP for you and dh). CM and CP are $11 for kids (a great use of their $10 per day DDP cost), and $19 for adults (not a great use of adult TS credits, but a pretty cheap meal for OOP).

Yeah, I know, spending $38 to save $20 sounds like Disney math. But you'll get a good meal, great character interaction for the kids, and you won't feel like you just let those extra TS credits go to waste. Personally, that would be harder for me than spending the extra $$. If you're really thrifty, you could even have just one parent take the kids to the character breakfast.

Have a great time!

We plan on doing something similar, and it's a pain! But our kids are old enough to go to the kids club so they won't need to be fed.

The issues I'm dealing with are will it be a problem to pay OOP for the adults while the kids are on the plan? What if we do a TS for the 4 of us and 1 adult uses the DDP while the other orders just an entree and pays OOP? Any recent experiences? It's often too much food anyway, and we'll need to make up the difference from our night out.

Lol - my latest date night idea is to all have a quick dinner together early, then dh and I go out for a fancy dessert and some adult time at either one of the parks, shopping in DTD, or if we are completely exhausted, a movie!

DH and I have considered this too. We are thinking of doing EPCOT with out the kids and drinking our way around the World.

This is what DH and I did our last trip. We had a family meal together with the kiddos, sitter came about 7:30 to the room, she said the kids were exhausted and fast asleep by 8! DH and I went to Epcot for a EMH evening and drank our way around the world. :goodvibes
