I thoughI was posting on the original thread and did not want to retype this:

We too have seen some off the wall stuff from parents but we try hard not to judge what we see. We have ONE easy child and have no clue what they are going through. I have on more that one occasion tried to say or do something that might make the situation better. On entering MGM last year, one CM for some reason handed use about twenty mickey sticker. DS at 9 did not care at all for them so we had fun giving them to kids that looked liked they needed a bit of Magic. We always asked the parent if the child could have one of our stickers. often that is enough to make the behavior stop and give the parent a second to regroup. Another thing i have done is to make a positive coment to a parent in line that seems to be having a hard time with a child's behavior. Something like" Yes, he gots a lot of energy but just look at that twinkle in his eye, I bet he is really smart". Or sometimes just a reformation that kids misbehave sometimes. I once saw a three year old little girl having a total meltdown at bathroom in MK. The mom was getting ready to loose it. I just said in a laughing way, Hey I feel like going that too!!! She must be as tired as me. The mom laughed, picked up the little girl and said it was time for a break.
Yes, you have to be careful not to "but in" but sometimes a kind word rather than a judgment can work wonders.

I agree. I always try to deflect the negative situation. I will ask question about where they are from, what they like and always a positive comments about the children.
