OK, I do not normally start (or participate in) tv show threads but I've watched both episodes and cried a bit. PLEASE watch this show so it will stay on. I know this drama type show is being pushed out by reality & Office type sitcoms but seriously, this is a pretty good show. If you liked Gilmore Girls this is a clear choice & if you have a kid with Autism or Asperger's it is also great.

I really like this show too, we haven't watched last nights episode yet but will tonight. All of the shows we like, similar to this one, get cancelled. So I am trying not to get too attached!

Parenthood is one of my favorite movies so I was excited for the show to come out and I really really like it. I hope it is able to stick around.

I am a big fan of this new show. I hope it catches on -- it's a winner.:thumbsup2

Saw the first show and I immediately recognized the the boy was in the Autism spectrum. None of the characters including his parents seemed to though. But I'm sorry, the whole rest of the show was a complete turn off for me. I won't be turning it on again. But I don't have a neilson box anyway so i doubt NBC will notice.

I really like this show too, I taped it byut watched it after The Forgotten last night, which I LOVE! Hopefully they both stay on.

I am a HUGE fan of the movie with Steve Martin. It was so emotional and touching, yet humourous at the same time. I had really high hopes for this new TV show. That said.........I found it to be such a downer. I did record last night's show and will watch it, but the premier was so depressing. It needs to add more light/funny moments to the show to balance out the negative. Remember how funny Steve Martin was in the movie? I still laugh when I think about his little boy Justin getting his head caught in the chair or when I hear the phrase, "he made me play first base". haha Unless they add some light moments to the show, I may have to take the show off my DVR list.

I was disappointed with the premiere also. Didn't even bother to record the second episode. To each his own.

We watched the first episode last night and taped the 2nd. I was not overly impressed and I was looking foward to this show. It was very disjointed, too many families to keep track of and remember.
I will watch the 2nd episode and then decide if I will watch it again.

was it billed as being a comedy? I guess I thought it was supposed to be a drama from the get go....and didn't realize it was directly off the movie.

I really wanted to like the show and I really liked a lot of the cast. But I didn't even finish the first episode and I tried the second episode which was better but it still didn't work for me. :(

Word on the street is that show turns around after Episode 3.

I loved it and hoping it stays on.

Of course people these days seem to be into disgusting shows like The Bachelor so I don't have high hopes.

For once I'd like an interesting character driven show to make it.

that's good news! I like it, but want to love it....KWIM!? Just get the feeling it has that potential. I will be giving it a few more episodes!!!:)

Well Parenthood faces two challenges: First, getting enough viewers to care enough about the show to watch it loyally. Second, justifying the price-tag.
Bonnie Bedelia $$$
Craig T. Nelson $$$
Erika Christensen $$$
Lauren Graham $$$
Monica Potter $$$
Peter Krause $$$

But that's not all:
Brian Grazer (Executive Producer) $$$
Jason Katims (Executive Producer) $$$
Ron Howard (Executive Producer) $$$

That's not to mention the writers and directors that they're getting. It's not enough to simply be a good show, with some fans. With high-priced talent like that, it's got to be a blockbuster.

I had no plans to watch this show, but I started watching after Biggest Loser last week and really liked it. I liked last nights show as well, so I'll probably start planning on watching it.

It's up against "The Good Wife" which I really love, so I haven't watched this yet. Does anyone else remember the other "Parenthood" show? It was also based on the movie, and it didn't last long.

It's up against "The Good Wife"
It is also going to be on up against "V", and since we like both The Good Wife and "V" I think Parenthood is probably going to get relegated to summer, if it lasts that long.

I just wish it was on an hour earlier. While I like the show, I find myself drifting off. It's not because the show's a snoozer for me, I'm just tired by 9:00. Don't have a DVR to tape it.
