After many trips to WDW this will be our first trip on the DDP. My ds's friend will be at WDW at the same time as we will be. We'd like to take him to a park with us and then to dinner. Can we use OUR DDP credits for his meal too, or do we have to pay out of pocket for his meal?

yes, the rule is that the credits are for your use only...However, my MIL joined us at the last minute during our December 2008 trip. We had DDP, she did not. We used our dining credits to pay for her meal three different times. Each time, I asked, and each time the waitstaff was very understanding saying "no problem"....it did take them a while to prepare our bill though...but I didnt' mind.

I know we did this at Askershus and Tusker House (breakfast), I cannot remember the other restaurant.

So, I would not plan on it as each waitperson is different, but always ask!!

My sister met my parents down at WDW for a few days while they were there on the DDP and each and every time they went to dinner they used their credits on her...then, just paid OOP the rest of the week once all of their credits had been used up.

In June 07, DH and I went down with my parents (4 adults on DDP) and we never gave the waitstaff two different cards. We used up my parents meals first, then moved on to our card. We never even gave it a thought...we figured, we paid for XX amount of meals, we ate XX amount of meals, but using one card at a time was MUCH EASIER for the waitstaff to handle.

You can't share your dining credits with people not on your dining plan reservation. His meals would have to be out of pocket.

The Cast Member is only supposed to allow as many meals on the DDP as there are Guests indicated in each age group on the Key to the World.

If your card says 2 A 3 C, you are entitled to two adult meals and three child meals at any single seating on that card.

I'm not lecturing, I'm not opining, I'm simply stating the rules.

Last June Me, DW, DS22 and DD20 stayed at POP on the DDP, since they are older and larger now we figured we would get 2 rooms. At every dinner we went to we had to present 2 cards one from each room. So you may or maynot run into problems buying more dinners then the number of persons staying in the room, I guess it depends on the cast member. Since you are going to have to pay OOP for all of the meals at the end of the week anyway when you run out of credits why don't you just DDP the 2 more sxpensive meals and pay OOP for the cheapest meat at every dinner this should save you $ ?

I think you already got an answer here, you can only used DDP credits in your own and pay OOP for your DS's friend. May you have a great time, have fun and enjoy your upcoming trip. Looking forward in hearing more from you after you came back.

Have a nice day everyone. :)
