Hi all.........I had posted a few weeks ago about selling our DVC membership so I can stay home with the kids. Anyway, I have DEFINITELY been procrastinating on this as DVC is the ONE thing I am having trouble giving up! I need to just go ahead and list so I will stop changing my mind. I do have a few questions if anyone is familiar at all with the sale process. I guess, if you are on this forum, you probably haven't sold your membership :D

How long does it usually take to sell? We plan on listing for a price that the broker suggests is a marketable price to sell fairly quickly.

Do we have to contact Disney regarding our desire to sell?

What do we need to do on our end to make sure everything is in order?

I am so afraid that I am missing soemthing. Of course, I never looked into this as I NEVER wanted to sell but now, I see being home as more important. Sorry for all the questions and thanks in advance!! :scared:

We sold 2 VWL contracts a couple years ago with The Timeshare Store and it went pretty smoothly. Both contracts had no points for the current use year and also the next year was borrowed from. We priced pretty low since we thought it would take a while to sell contracts with no points. I think we got offers within one week of each other and it only took about 3 weeks to get an offer. We did not need to contact Disney to let them know we were selling. The only thing we did do was have them fax our point history so we were sure about our balance. The whole process was easy. Everything was done by fax. I think we received our check a week or two after closing. It's been awhile so I don't remember all the details. Hope this helps! Good luck!

We are on the other end...we are looking to buy a resale and just got off the phone with our agent at the Timeshare Store. If you own at BCV, she said they often sell within minutes of being listed. VWL seems to go rather quickly too. Just to let you know what our agent shared with us, in case you own at either of these properties.

Can one person, such as me, buy from another person, such as diszneefamily5, without going through someone?

yes you can.........just find a closing company locally who would be willing to do it...........but make sure you negotiate the cost........timeshare stores asks for 12% which to me is ludicrous........but they do need to make money............i would rather sell it my self.........real estat transactions are quite easy to do but you need to find a closing agent

It looks like there are quite a few of them on the TSS website so we may be lookng at a longer wait :-( Thank you all so much for your quick replies! You don't know how helpful this is to us!
