Parasailing

Can someone please tell me about the Parasailing on Castaway Cay? My very adventurous, will be 10 on our cruise if she makes it that long,DEAR DEAR daughter (a little mom stress this morning can't ya tell ) wants to do this, and she is at the proper age limit, but not at the proper weight. Will they allow her to do this if we go tandem? Also are there are any other places at the ports on the Eastern that any one has seen to Parasail?

Yes she can go tandem. In fact my ten year old and I are going tandem this June. Make your reservations as soon as you can, because it fills up fast.

You can certainly go tandem. My 8 yr old daughter and I went last week and it was a blast! The highlight of the trip for me.

We just returned from the 3/26 Western. My 16 yo dd parasailed on CC. There was a 13 yo girl who was also parasailing alone, so they went tandem. DD loved it! It was a definite highlight for her. The only down side is that I had heard beforehand from someone on this board, that when you go tandem, they try to keep you up in the air twice as long since you paid double fare ($70 each). DD said she and the other girl did not stay up any longer than the single parasailors. I was disappointed with that due to the price, but she still had a great time.

I thought I read there was a MINIMUM weight required. So I didn't think my DD11 and DD8 would be able to do it. Is the minimum weight only if they go alone? When do you sign up for this excursion? Ninety days before cruise? Or only when you get on ship?Thanks.

"Parasailing (45 minutes, airborne 5-7 minutes)

View Castaway Cay from a whole new perspective as you soar approximately 600-1,000 feet in the air! This aerial adventure is approximately 45 minutes total, with 5-7 minutes airborne.

Guests must weigh more than 90 lbs., but must not exceed 375 lbs. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Adult Price: $70 (ages 10 and above)
Child Price: $70 (ages 8-9)
Departure Times: Every 60 minutes, beginning at 10:30 am Disney Magic
9:00 am Disney Wonder "

We booked this excursion at the earliest date possible - not sure if that was 90, 75, or 60 days out. I wanted the first time slot and they gave me 10:30 am. On the morning we were to parasail, I learned from another family that they were able to snag the 9:30 am slot on the ship the day before the excursion! I guess they must leave spots open for last minute cruisers. I know the family that had the 9:30 am booking had to make it off the ship in record time to keep the appointment.

Yep, the minimum weight applies if you go alone. My DD doesn't make the minimum, but the two of us together are well above the minimum. WELL above.........

I don't know whether they'd allow your two daughters to go together; probably would have to have an adult go in tandem with each of them. One woman on my excursion had two kids so she rode with one of them and the boat operator sent the other kid up with an adult who would otherwise have been flying solo.

You could sign up before your trip, but I signed up on board and had no trouble getting in. And our cruise was completely full. The parasailing boat goes out every hour, and only one of the hourly trips was sold out so we pretty much had our choice of time slots.

I went parasailing on my last trip to WDW. AWESOME! I think I will be going parasailing on our DCL cruise this Oct. Can't wait!

I read that there is 600 feet!!!! of rope between you and the boat!
That is UP THERE!!!

We went on our last cruise, everyone on the boat went tandem. I went with 11yoDS, and we both loved it. I am sorry I didn't take a camera with me, but didn't know what to expect. It is very quiet and still, I thought it would be windy but was very still. Fantastic veiws of CC and boat.

Actually Melanie, I think there's 1000 feet of rope. But you never get directly above the boat so you're probably about 600 feet above the water at the most.

Let me know via PM if you want to see what is looks like from way up there, I have the photos to prove it. My mother is a senior 70+ and that is her favorite activity on the cruise... Me, I did it once that was enough. She would parasail as often as she could..

I'm so glad somebody asked this question. My 9 year old daughter really wanted to do this but after reading the excursion rules we told her she would not be able to as she is only 65 lbs. sooooo if my husband or myself go with her, she can go? We already told her no, boy will she be psyched to find out we were wrong

so the mininum age to go is 8? I'm already planning on going but have 2 DD's also. The older one already has an excursion planned with dad (personal watercraft eco tour) but would like to find something the younger one can do too.

Suzannef, what a coincidence, I too have a 9 year old daughter who is only 65lbs, (and I am A Suzanne too) Apparently, from all of these knowledgeable people, I think it is safe to say yes to our over adventurous daughters!!! Have fun up there, I know I will... (only thing is DD now has to pick who gets to go tandem with her, Mom or Dad, she asked if she could go twice! )

How funny!! I just told my daughter at dinner that she could go and she said "well I guess you and Dad will have to fight over who gets to come with me". She didn't get the idea yet to go twice, lets hope for the vacation funds sake she doesn't!!! She also wants to do the eco jet ski tour excursion. My 5 and 7 year old are not happy with the idea of her getting to go without them. We'll have to play it by ear and see how the drama unfolds. Theres always drama with three girls.
