Parasailing question

My DS will just barely be 8 by the time we cruise & he's small for his age. What kind of proof of age is required? A parent's word or a birth certificate? He's so looking forward to parasailing with his DM, I'd hate to screw it up because of a technicality.

Anyone got the right answer?

Thanks!
Brenda

It's automatically taken care of by his ship's information. You provide the birth certificate as proof of age, and it's keyed onto his reservation. If he was underage, they wouldn't book him on the excursion.

Make sure he is prepared for not being able to go up. We parasailed in October and were told it is completely up to the crew of the boat doing the parasailing on whether they can allow tandem parasailing that day. Sometimes wind conditions are not right for a safe tandem ride.

It will probably be OK but I always like to let DD8 know that not everything may happen as planned so when it doesn't she understands that it is for safety and not 'just because'.

btw- The parasailing was awesome!

I believe it is 300lbs.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

This is on the Castaway Excursion page on the DCL site:

Guests must weigh more than 90 lbs., but must not exceed 375 lbs. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Adult Price: $70 (ages 10 and above)
Child Price: $70 (ages 8-9)

9:00 am Disney Wonder

If you're only airborn for less than 10 minutes, what is happening the other 35-40 minutes? Also, do you need to know how to waterski in order to parasail?

because there are other people in the boat, you watch them parasail also. no, you don't need to know how to waterski.....all you do is stand on the platform, and they slowly winch you out as they pick up speed.....and then back down to the platform at the end.

I understand that only those parasailing can go out on the boat, but do they offer video or pictures of you going up or would I have to rely on someone on the boat using my camcorder and camera to capture the experience? I'd love to have a video and pictures, but DH wouldn't dream of parasailing & if we're able to parasail, I'll have to go up twice - once w/DS and once w/DD.

Thanks & have a great weekend everyone!
Brenda

They did not offer video or pictures when my DW and DS did it this past August. I'm sure you can find someone on the boat to take pictures.

Be careful with a camera and video - you will get some sea spray depending on the wind, waves, and speed of the boat. It only takes a very small amount of sea water to ruin anything electronic. You might want to get a couple of disposable waterproof cameras - 1 for someone on the boat to take pics and another for you to take up in the air.
