We've got both parasailing and waterskiing scheduled once during our trip in June, I was wondering if we should plan extra times for it.

Anyone been on waterskiing or parasailing with some reports? experiences?

we are doing our first parasailing experience this trip - when we go to WDW every third day is a rest day - or "day away from the parks day" So we schedule other stuff for those days. This year parasailing, fishing, horse back riding, and we will probably rent some bikes and go on one of the bike trails.

Just returned last week and did the parasailing at the Contemporary. We did the tandem parasailing and there were 2 other couples on the boat with us and we took turns.Give yourself 2 hrs for this.It was great, definitely worth the money, however I wouldn't do it twice in one trip(the view doesn't change ;) )We brought a disposable camera, didn't want to risk dropping the digital.Have fun :sunny:

thanks for the disposable comment - for those remaining on the boat is it safe to bring the camcorder?

Yes it's safe to bring a camcorder, but if you are filming from the boat you won't get much interresting footage. They strap you to the chute and you are in the air in 5 seconds. Also, you are very high up,so the pix you take from the air aren't very good either(whatever the object of your picture is will be tiny)

I want a report in June! We water ski in the summer, but parasailing sounds like too much fun to pass up! Please let me know how you like it!

Last trip my DH, DStep Dad, and my DD 6 went parasailing. They all had a lot of fun doing it. They would all do it again, although DD cried. She is braver after doing things.

TWO HOURS? Is that including transporation time, etc...? I thought the boats went out in 30 minute increments? I know we need to be there about 15 minutes ahead of time.

We have it scheduled for our July trip, it will be me & DS-8 doing a tandem and then me & DD-11 doing a tandem. I know since we are on the Premium plan, the person booking it just basically said "do you want to book the whole 30 minutes for yourselves?" - LOL! Sure, why not! She did say it is much more expensive that way (she didn't even tell me how much, just said "since you're on the Premium it doesn't matter") We are getting the boat for just us.

I wasn't planning on it taking us 2 hours though for the whole event. Maybe 1 hour?

EEK - I may need to change some things if it takes 2 hours.

I would recommend 2 hrs if you are coming from another resort. You will have to park or bus or monorail to the Contemporary, walk through to the beach, check in at the trailer. We waited around 15 min past our reservation time for the boat to come in then 30 min or so on the water ,5-10 min to tip the crew, collect your stuff, another 5 to get through the front of the resort and then the trip back to where you are going. So 2 hrs for the whole thing including transportation :sunny:

Thanks!! Whew! We are staying at the Contemporary so transportation there should be walking out to the marina! :) We have it scheduled at 2:00 and then have to be at Downtown Disney by 5:00. On paper it looked like enough time (I was thinking we would be done around 3 - 3:30ish).

Maybe I should see if we can change it to 1:30 (the only trick to that is we need to have some lunchtime in there - DH & the older 2 are fishing from 10-12. I had figured 2 was enough time to get us to eat lunch & switch kids, etc...)

Hmmm....have to think about that one.

It's not going to take 2 hours to be out there, but I'd plan for 1 1/2 to 2 hours out of your day for this. My DH started out at Space Mountain, and he needed to get out of the park still, wait for the monorail, and walk to the back of the resort. Then if you want to get to the same point you were at before you started you've got to get back to the park.

Another question about Parasailing and waterskiing....

Do they provide the towels? or do we need to bring them with us? :fish: :fish: :fish:

I can't answer for water skiing, but with parasailing you don't get wet. My family wore their clothes.

Bring your own towels. We did this and tubing when we went 2003 on the gold plan. One thing I didn't read until I got home was that tips are not included. With the gold plan meals come with tips, so it didn't even dawn on me to look at the receipt until after we got home.
