Paramounts Great America is a theme park located near where I live. It is NOTHING like DL or Universal! The theme aspect is not quite as good! They don't really have much to do with Star Trek (although I have seen a few characters from Star Trek roaming around the park!) As far as I know, they don't have any special attractions or rides with Star Trek theme. The park is kind of similiar to a Six Flags type amusement park with lots of thrill rides (roller coasters). They have had a special this year when you purchase a full price ticket, you turn it into a WOW card that can be used for the rest of the season at no additional cost. We did take advantage of that this year ( I have two sons ages 8 & 13).

I certainly wouldn't make a special trip to Great America--but, if you happen to be in the Bay Area, it's probably worth a day there! Hope that helps! They do have a website (you can find it by going to www.ask.com --just ask the question, "How can I find Paramount's Great America?" and it should direct you to it. Sorry, I don't know the exact website address!

Hope this helps!:bounce:

We have been season passholders there for 4 years. It is not Disney.... the place is not as clean, the theming is superficial, the employees are a whole lot less perky, to say the least. I wouldn't travel a long distance to go there, but it is a good enough theme park. There is a beautiful, signature 2-story carousel which is nice. Several new attraction have been added that are pay-for-use -- there are some bungee-trampolines and one of those flying harness drop things.... some new go-carts which look pretty cool. Some climbing rock walls with harnesses, sky cars, a simulator ride, an IMAX theatre with one free movie and one extra $. There are several good coasters there, a log ride, a Drop Zone, a kids' section, some shows including a Nickelodeon Audience participation show, bumper cars. The buffeterias are half-way decent.

For the cost of one day's admission you can get a Wow card which is essentially a season pass with no frills.

Be sure to look at the thread about Other Things to Do In California at the top of the page for other destinations in the area. The link to the website is in there.... I think it is www.pgathrills.com

In case you were going soon, Great America is now only open weekends until their Halloween event, then I believe it is closed for the season. I am not aware of any special Star trek theming, but occasionally a Klingon roams the park (haven't seen him for a few years)

I am curious, with Star Trek in mind...The Las Vegas Hilton hotel a Major Star Trek Attraction. My neighbor is a serious trekkie and stays there every time she goes to gamble.

When we were the Sunday, we noted that the big Enterprise statue is still there, on the west side of the carousel. It would make a fine photo-op. :)
