I have stayed at both places only once, so I do not have too much to offer. They are almost the same walking distances to the Esplanade, PP a couple hundred feet farther even through the GCH.

PP is the least Disney themed on-site hotel (we have stayed at each one only once-enough for our fix), however you can get some decent views of CA if you want to pay for it (or get lucky). I don't recall having issues with the elevators when we stayed there (7 or so years ago), but this seems to be an issue with some guests.

FF is nice enough and close enough that we would stay there again, we have just found that the Desert Inn rooms are a little bigger and nicer, and closer, and cheaper. The one time we stayed at FF, we were above the pool (3rd floor), so it was a bit noisy in the afternoons when we took a break. Plenty of fast-food/quick meal places along Harbor to grab a relatively cheap bite on the way into the parks or on the way back to the room for a break.

PP has onsite restaurants and there are a ton in DTD. We are not into character meals but it seems the one at PP gets decent reviews. I would hit up SH 55 for breakfast instead, our favorite breakfast in the entire resort area.

Really depends on what your goals are, will you be spending down time at the hotel and DTD, or will it be commando rope drop till you drop? If more leisurely of a trip I would opt for PP.

We really only use the hotels for sleeping and quick breaks, so for us close, clean, and relatively cheap is the first choice. I would go with FF over PP. I would really go with Desert Inn-about $30-50 cheaper/night than FF. If pools are a big deal then PP over FF and FF over Desert Inn.
