Paradise Pier or Candy Cane Inn?

Paradise Pier Hotel will cost me over $400 more than Candy Cane Inn. Is it worth it? We will be in the parks almost every day. Disney told me that people staying at Paradise Pier can use the pool at the Disneyland Hotel. How far of a walk is it?

Also, is Paradise Pier Hotel closer to the parks or Candy Cane Inn closer to the parks?

I have stayed @ all three DL hotels. PP is the worst. You may want to save your money or stay @ one of the other two. You do
have access to the pool @ the Disney hotel. It is not a far walk & the pool is great! It is based on neverland & there is a skull rock slide & a meramid lagoon hot tub.

The PP hotel has only 3 elevators. In off season it may not be a problem, but last July one elevator was broken & you can only fit about 10 people (tightly) per elevator. We had a very hard time getting on the elevator. It took about 20 min. every day.

I would never stay there again. The other 2 hotels are great! I highly reccommend them.

Well, the DLH pool complex may not be a "far" walk from the PP but dude, it sure ain't close!!! Its better to take the hotel tram that is for the PP hotel guests (its right outside the front entrance but you have to ask for it... its not like a standard tram.) Definitly, the Neverland Pool complex is not to be missed.

Its like a 5 to 7 minute walk (maybe more but there is some disagreement on that topic ) and I for one felt a bit weird walking around in a bathing suit in a fully dressed crowd. There is a place to change at the pool.

I love the PP and the last time I stayed "off property" on Harbor Blvd I wished that we had spent the extra dough to stay at PP - I felt like I was missing out. That being said $400 is a lot of dough and we did not save that much (more like $200) so I may have felt differently if it had been $400!
Of course the last time I was at PP I wished we had spent more and stayed at GC - so it's all a matter of perspective I guess.

I wasn't aware PP had a tram. As a matter of fact I have heard complaints that they SHOULD have a tram. Does anyone have any info on this? Was this a recent addition? Any help on this?

I have heard wonderful things about both places.

The Candy Cane has it's own private shuttle, but I'm not sure how often it runs. The walk to the shuttle stop is closer to DL than the PP hotel. Candy Cane has been reviewed to have wonderful beds and a terriffic free breakfast (something the PP does not offer).

I have never heard a bad thing about the Candy Cane.

A friend of mine stayed at the PP in December and she loved the hotel. Can't stop talking about it, although she loves the HoJo's on Harbor for her budget trips.

Whether it's worth the 400.00 buck is only a choice you can make. I can think of a lot of things to do with that money, but I have never paid more than 50.00 for a standard room on a Disney trip and 70.00 for a suite (all of our stays are off property).

I have now stayed at all 3 of the Disney hotels as well as the Candy Cane.
The PP is nice enough but not quite special enough for some reason. We had a great view of DCA and the room decore was nice but the hotel is bland compared to other Disney properties. If you get a really good deal it is worth it. The Candy Cane Inn sometimes can be almost as expensive as PP but, even though it is just a two story motel, it has loads more personality and is just as convenient AND has a free breakfast.
My sister and I are in our fourties and have stayed at CC and PP together and she liked CC much better than PP.

??? Well I haven't stayed at CC, but DW & I were very pleased with PP. From the hotel to DLH took about 4-5 minutes. To DD took 5 minutes. The theme parks took about 8 minutes unless you went to DCA through the special entrance. Then it took 3-4 minutes???

We're DVC members and we take about three trips a year to WDW. This trip will be our first trip to Disneyland. I think we're going to go with the Candy Cane Inn. We can get our flights for $116 round trip (it's cheaper than Orlando) and the 3 day hopper upgrade to 5 days with all the plus features for $130 a piece (includes the price of mailing). This trip to California, believe it or not, is more affordable than going to WDW Florida this time - really surprising.

I am going to keep an eye out for last minute rates on Expedia for the Disneyland Hotel (I would like to stay here, but not for $600 plus more dollars when we plan on being in the parks most of the time). Paradise Pier was over $400 more. Like someone said, that's a lot of souvies!

The tram is an electric car... think stretch limo of golf carts. Its parked out by the valet area up front. There may be one around back, but thats doubtful. Talk to the valet person or the person at the bell desk - they can hook you up.
