So I currently have Anaheim Theme Park booked for our trip in Oct, but checked on Costco and Paradise Pier is only about $100 more for the entire stay, which would you pick and why? I have two little ones with me (7yrs and 5yrs). Is it worth it to stay offsite to be close to the park? or should I stay at PPH for the EMM? both in standard views.. TIA!

I've stayed at the PPH is was meh. It looks like the waterslides at the Courtyard are just as good or better than the one slide at PPH. Plus PPH is a longer walk to the parks. Sure you walk the street instead of through Downtown Disney, but it's not like DD gives you a real good Disney vibe anyway.

The plus to staying at PPH is that they have a character meal on site, and they do finish each phone call with "have a magical day". I'm not sure how long the trip is for, but if it's more than 4 nights and it only costs $100 more, you might as well get the Disney touch.

we currently have 4 nights booked at courtyard, and I know my little ones would love the splash pad, but hard not to get the magic touch of disney.. decisions, decisions.....

How long of a trip? Will you be including much pool time at all into your visit? I wouldn't do Courtyard unless you're going to go along with the kids' wishes to hit that water play area. Nor would I pay the money to stay there unless you were going to do that.

I love PPH and think their simple pool is great fun. The slide ends sort of on its own so you don't have to worry as much as the slides that go into a pool.

4 days, and pool time prob one of the days if weather is nice, but prob plan on spending most time at the park.

Also you'll have EMH and package delivery if you stay onsite. Those two things make it worthwhile to me.

I've never stayed at the PP, but I know most people used to 'short cut' through the lobby of the Grand to get to the parks. You can't do that anymore, so when you figure the walk to the Esplanade, you need to figure walking 'the long way'. You can still use the 'shortcut' to walk back to the PP though.

How in the world do they manage that? We opted not to stay at the PPH because of the walk. Staying at the Disneyland Hotel last month, that was a little too far for my taste

My vote is PPH, stayed there twice and loved both stays. The price break to DLH is about right. The PPH pool is one of my favourites, a proper deep end, nice and warm, and the the slide is great. EMH is awesome especially at DCA so long as you use it...

Not stayed at the Courtyard so can't really compare but I do think there is more than $100 value at PPH for your stay.

I would stay at PPH if it is only $100 difference. Like others have mentioned, you get MM/EE every day, which is great, IMO, to get into the parks first thing an hour before the general public is let in, purchases made in the parks can be delivered to your hotel the next morning, you can take the short cut through DGH when you go back to your room, which is nice, when my kids were younger (now teens) they enjoyed the pool area, especially the slide. What ever you decide to do, have a great time!

For that small of a price difference, I'd stay onsite if I was planning on using the early morning entry.

I hear you! It's why I've never stayed there, and especially now that the walk seems to have been pretty much doubled. We joked that if we ever did stay at PPH, we'd take Uber to the Harbor entrance in the mornings rather than do that long trudge. LOL

We felt the same about DLH and we were in Fantasy Tower. The distance between the Grand/DTD entrance and the DLH seemed like miles, especially at the end of a long, long day! Although I must admit, it's just a 'short trot' when we want to go to Trader Sam's ;)

We were in the Fantasy tower too!
Waaaaayyyyy to long at the end of the night!

looks like the OP from the link decided to go with DLH, prehaps I should look into that too.. so if the decisions were between DLH or Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park?

We have both the DLH and Courtyard booked. The DLH was not even close to the price of PPH though. We are paying almost $600 a night for a standard view room, which is insane, especially when we can stay at a Marriott for free with points for our entire stay. BUT, the DLH seems to have the nicest "Disney" theming, and the the pool looks much better than PPH, and it's a graduation trip, we likely will never go to DL again (we are on the East coast and go to WDW a ton), so I figured we would splurge this time around. The long walk is turning me off though and making me second guess our choice.

I'm pretty sure the walk is actually shorter from the DLH to the parks than to MK from Contemporary. I really don't find the walk bad at all.

I don't personally find the walk from the DLH to be that far. Courtyard Marriott is 8 minutes for my family. I've never timed us from the DLH but I'm guessing it'd take us 10 minutes. I think the difference is only a couple minutes at best. Plus Security will probably be faster from the DLH since they have a checkpoint for hotel guests. Don't 2nd guess your choice. If you can afford it the DLH is perfect, especially if you don't think you'll be back. It has all the Disney touches plus a beautiful pool area and grounds.

Ohh good to hear! Some of the things I've been reading make it sound like it's miles!

all these talk about how wonderful DHL is made me look them up, wow, its pricing, for 3 nights, the GCH is only $200 more for the whole stay (3 nights total). for $200 difference, would you pick Disneyland Hotel or the Disney Grand Californian, this will be in Oct, so the pool reno woudl already be done.
