Hello fellow Disneylanders...For the first time in forever, I plan to splurge & stay on sight @ DL. This will probably be the only time I'm in a position to do so. Looking at PPH...here are my questions (before I pull the trigger)...

1. What floors are the standard room theme park view rooms on? I ask, because before I splurge for that room, I want to make sure I'm high enough to be above the palm tree line, otherwise, I won't pay the extra money to have a tree obstructed view.

2. I've read that there is only ONE elevator somewhere...please tell me this is one elevator per building for a total of two...or is it really just one to service both buildings???

And finally my PTN question. Everywhere I read on DL website says that this is part of the 60th anniversary celebration. Does that mean they will discontinue it in early Sept.? Ifso, it looks like I will miss this by one week.

We saw four elevators. ..one that is glass with a view to outside ...and 10 feet away there is a bank of three. But even with four we found we often were waiting . We did city view 11th floor so I cannot help with the other

I've stayed there many times. Even at third floor the view is nice. I will say though the theme in is very subtle to the point you might not notice it, I would not personally stay there for one night as a treat if I was tight on cash, you'll be dissapointed. It is not dlh, not even close. It's basically a Marriott level 3 star hotel. You get early entry which us why I've stayed there a bunch, but it is probably the worst disney property in the country, I'm sorry. I've stayed at many of their properties, I really suggest either scraping together 200 more for dlh for a night, doing a future trip to any property in wdw, or not bothering.

I do recommend the hotel, I'd stay again, but not as a one off, one night.

Repost of my comment in another thread:
The 60th celebration will end in September, so decorations will change and perhaps different Fireworks and World of Color. Paint the Night was introduced as part of the 60th celebration, but will likely continue. (I expect PTN will continue for many years)

Agree...we commented that any place else that rate would have been 1/2. We loved DLH but the $$ CAD forced us to PPH so we would still access early entry every day. PPH was fine just not really special .

LOL...I guess have given more info and my Disney vacay style. It would be for my entire trip (4 maybe 5 nights). Theming is not a top priority to me, I'll be solo so have no kiddos to appease. I was leaning towards PPH over DLH because I am willing to give up a little theming for park views (I would really like to be able to watch WOC from the privacy of my room at least one night), but not if I can't really see it because of the trees. So basically trying to decide between PPH park view...or DLH standard view. I usually stay @ one of the Sheratons...I think my favorite is now Majestic something or other now. I really just need a safe place (hotel) to lay my head, a bathroom, and a hair dryer in my room and I'm pretty much good to go.

I fully expected to not see the 60th anniversary WOC (OK by me since I've never seen the original), nor see the special fireworks...once again, fine by me...I love fireworks no matter which one I see. But, I really do want to see PTN...I was having a hard time thinking they would put that much effort/money into a night time parade to only have it for one year...common sense tells me it should stick around for years to come. But all the verbiage states that it's part of the 60 year anniversary...that's the only reason I questioned it.

I'll be heading back to WDW in two years...too much construction, rides closed right now...so I thought this would be the perfect year to head back to DL...last time I was there was 2007...pre Carsland & WOC...two things I'm excited to see. Bummed that I missed out on seeing Aladdin one last time, IMHO the BEST Disney stage performance anywhere!

There is one building.

3 normal elevators all in a row, and 1 glass elevator that you can take UP to any floor, but can only call down if you're on a concierge floor (or, supposedly, suite, but we've been upgraded to a suite level before that didn't have a call button).

I literally could NOT disagree more. I am so at the polar opposite of your feelings it's not even funny.

We LOVE PPH, and think it's terrific. We've stayed at DLH, DTD view at the Grand (tiny dark room as far from the center of the esplanade as if we had come from the sidewalk outside HoJo, ugh), a variety of non-Disney places off property, at Bay Lake, Old Key West, both Animal Kingdom buildings, Saratoga Springs, Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk Villas...oh gosh, so many... And PPH is still fabulous to us.

OP I can't answer you about the views. We always get upgrades when we stay, so I've lost track of what we actually book. Not sure how we manage it, but PPH has treated us very nicely over the years. I've never felt impacted by trees, but then I don't spend ages looking outside my window (except on this last trip and there were definitely no trees impacting us).

We stayed at the Paradise Pier last August and they upgraded us to park view room. We were on the 11th floor. The view was amazing!!! It spoiled me and I don't think I would want to stay there again without that wonderful view. I was just talking about that trip the other day and I was saying the most magical thing to me was falling asleep to the Mickey Wheel changing colors. :rainbow:

If you do decide to go with Park view at the PPH, make sure you put in your request that you would like to be able to view WOC. Not all view rooms have a decent view of WOC.

We paid for a standard room, and got the 10th floor, and had a view of the pools. It was nice because we could see our kids swimming down there, and no sound traveled up, so we were able to nap.

DH and I stayed at PPH during an "Adult's only" trip in 2014 and we really liked it. This was our first time staying at this hotel (we have stayed at DLH and VGC on our first trip with the kids). We liked it so much that we decided to stay there again (with the the kids this time around) for one night before heading over to VGC for the rest of our stay during our upcoming June trip. When DH and I stayed there, we stayed in an upper theme park view room which was awesome (I think that is what made us fall in love with the resort even though we loved staying at DLH too, plus we really liked the beachy theme of the room) and when we return this summer, we booked the same view...we can't wait to go back :goodvibes.

I wouldn't be surprised if WOC is not some form of the 60th still at that point. The old one is not coming back, at least not in its last seen form, I have heard. I could see them updating the 60th though like they did with the old one when new stuff came out. And the 50th anniversary fireworks where seen up until May 2015 so I could see the 60th being shown for a while. They might go back to the old schedule of only on the weekends in off-season and the Holiday Fireworks during Christmas though. PTN is going to be here for a while. It has been really liked.

PPH is not the worst disney property and its not even close. The elevators can be a pain that is true. We prefer DLH but would not hesitate to stay at PPH if we had to. Just know you can’t see the WoC projections from your room but it is still really cool.

can I assume that a club level them park view room would have a great view of WOC though?

given where the building is i think all rooms from pph have a side view of WOC...aren't all club level tpv rooms on a high floor and on the theme park side looking at dca? seems to me all of them could see WOC pretty well but i don't know

Another vote in support of PPH, here!!! :thumbsup2

The view from the TPV rooms is absolutely spectacular! It's the wallpaper on my phone!

The rooms are bright and large, and the walk, by cutting through the GCH, is nice and easy. It also allows us to soak up the beautiful atmosphere of that hotel, which would be our choice every time, if money were no object. :)

How exciting for the OP to be planning her first stay there! Have a magical vacation! pixiedust:

I can't wait!!! I'm trying to be patient & wait it out for a special offer...I know, I'll be waiting awhile.
