Paradise Pier/Cabana room report:

We arrived Saturday at 1:00 pm to the front of the hotel being picketed by employees! Police and security were there as well, it seem to be orderly, but just loud.

Room wasn’t ready, so we headed straight for the pool! Spent two hours having some really needed relaxing and play time poolside! Called at 3:00 and room wasn’t ready. Called at 3:45 and room wasn’t ready. Called again at 4:15, and yep room wasn’t ready. I was being very nice about all of it and (Rebecca) assured me that we did have a Cabana room and it would be ready soon. Just after the call I did receive a text with our room number!

The Cabanas are the entire poolside deck area. Some are to the left as you exit the building, and some are to the right. Our room was 343(to the right). We were just outside the bar area(pretty far from the actual bar). At first I wasn’t too sure about this, but the bar hours are minimal and we never saw anyone really. The room was very basic, but with a PORCH! The area is beautiful and lush! Who could complain! I brought an ice chest of my own drinks (tee hee) and sat down and had a beer! On my porch! I could go in detail about the room, but it really is just a room with two queen size beds etc. They do have Cabana Suites, but were a mere $400/500 more! LOL!

The difference (to me) on being closer to the pool or farther from is simply just that. We could have been closer to the pool gate, but it’s not exactly the same level as the pool, just one flight of stairs more. You could sit on the porch and NOT see the water, you can see the slide and people waking, but not the pool. So depending on what ages your children are you couldn’t leave them at the pool and stay on your porch (safely). Another plus being farther from the pool gate, is the gate! People come and go….and come and go. We never heard the gate or the pool area!

We loved the concierge level!!!! It’s really a wonderful set up and you can have anything! Anything all day!! Water bottles, sodas, juice boxes are for the asking to take into the park. Breakfast had toaster with beagles etc and tons of fresh fruit! Ok, dinner was a good. Really just an appetizer, but the cheese plate was to die for! Lots of choices! Plus, cocktails! Wine and beer only!!! The chocolate strawberries are the biggest and the best ever!! Just amazing! I ate 4 each night!! They have plate’s full! Plus, these really yummy mini chocolate éclairs!! LOL!

Lunch was really just chips and some fruit, so don’t plan on that being a ‘meal’, just snacks.

Concierge lounge has games, and movies you could check out and take back to the room. Then when the fireworks started we just went outside and there they were!! No music, but I was already in my bathrobe, so it didn’t matter. We don’t need to stay up late, so don’t flame me! I like going to bed early, yes, even at Disneyland!!

With our AP the cost for the room on Saturday was $240, Sunday $210, not including taxes etc! I will for sure do this again! No questions! I’m kicking myself for not doing it all these years!

I’ll post pics on following post. I took several! How many do you want?
Hope this helps!

By the way, the pool was great! Not many people!! The park was great early in the day as well!

Very cool!

As many pictures as you have, that's what "we" want. :) You're the first person I've seen since I joined, who came back with a PPH cabana room report. So we want it ALL.

I don't know if it's the same in PPH, but I've read that at the Grand and maybe DLH, there's a certain station on the TV that broadcasts the music for the fireworks, so next time maybe you can tune in, after finding out if they do that for PPH as well.

As for the picketing...if you want to go by the past events...it might not be actual Disney employees picketing...they've (the Union) been known to hire people to picket just to make a fuss (even though, in the past at least, it's the Union that's refusing to sit down and talk with Disney). :headache:

We stayed at the Paradise Pier last October, but we didnt have a Cabana room. There was a good view of the fireworks from the far pool deck. The wierd thing was we could hear the music in that area, but not really from the rest of the pool area near the slide.

Very cool!

So could you easily leave your patio and get to the pool? Was there a gate in your patio "fence", or did you have to go over it, or did you just go out your normal door and the regular way?

Glad you figured out how to use the pullout couch! Took me three stays to figure out how to turn that thing into a bed!

Calll me spoiled now:goodvibes

We stayed at PPH in December, and the Fireworks viewing area had patio heaters and the fireworks music was piped in.

Thanks for the trip report! We'll be there in a couple of days, can't wait!

What are the concierge lounge's hours? We're wondering if we'll be able to make it back for a late dinner/snack.

Are the Cabana rooms, Concierge level rooms?

So when you went outside to watch fireworks, how did you see them from the pool side of the building? I'm confused on this point.

As far as I know the Cabana rooms start with being Concierge level, but like anything, durning slow times, I'm sure you could get one without concierge, but they did tell me they were.

Sorry, if I confused you. When you exit the bd, facing pool....turn right, towards the bar. I did find out they have the music up by the bar area, but our little one was sleeping so I won't leave her alone, so we just stood near the wall right by the rooms. The one picture that says view of Grand is where we stood. The other pic that says 'view to right' is our room, just to the end of that is the view!

Hope that helps!

thank you so much 4campers for the trip report and pics. :thumbsup2 We have 46 days left before our trip and we have concierge level and put in the request for a Cabana room a while back but, I wasn't sure if it would be worth trying to get it or not. But, it sounds like it sure is. Yay! :goodvibes The three teenage boys would love to be that close to the pool.
Glad you had a wonderful time.

With 3 teenage boys I'm sure this location and all the food will really come in handy:thumbsup2

Have a wonderful time!! Post a trip report when you return!

Augh, lucky!

Each time we've had a couch bed at a DLR resort room I've called and had someone come up to turn it into a bed ~ I need to watch next time so I know how to do it! We won't need it for our 2 nights at the DLH 4th of July weekend ~ it's just me & DD so with 2 Q beds we'll be just fine.

is that price including the concierge service, or is that extra?

I believe that is with the concierge as the $210 is what we paid May 25 - 27 when we did the concierge level with the AP/40% discount.

We asked for but did not receive a cabana room, but were upgraded to a view room which we absolutely LOVED!!! And we loved the concierge - it will be so hard to go back to our usual.
