If you have a standard room reservation, I always ask for a top floor. Up as high as they'll assign me. At least it will give you a fairly nice view.
If you have a reservation for a park view, as for something on the 9th floor or above. The view of the park is fantastic!

I've never used uber...
We just go out to the taxi stand and grab a taxi. It's fast and there's no waiting.

Yes, if you reserved a park view, make sure to ask for a room above the trees.

Taxi from the airport works really well since there are usually cabs waiting. Going back to the airport, ask the concierge for the flat-rate coupon. Not sure if PP has it, but the GC concierge has them.

I've always requested a room on an upper floor and been happy with that. Last time we were on the 5th floor near the stairs and it was great to be able to skip the elevators when they were slow (and they did seem very slow on that trip). So I would either want very high or very low near a stairwell (so you can be all in with the elevators or all in with the stairs).

We like the 300-odd (311 is closest to the elevator) Cabana rooms (Standard View) on the 3rd floor. They don't have a view, but they have a patio which makes the room feel more spacious. We also like being able to walk right out to the pool and also walk out on the pool deck to watch FWs.

Uber is around $20 if it's not Peak timing. Taxi is likely around $30-35. YMMV.
