Paradise Island Beaches

I've read about people getting day rooms on Paradise Island that allow you to use the Atlantis facilities, including the beach.

Does anyone know if there are any free public beaches on Paradise Island? If so, what are the names of the beaches and where are they located? Do they have umbrellas or trees that provide shade?

Is it easy finding a cab to get back to the ship? How much will the cab fare be from Paradise Island to the ship?

The Public Beach access is located just a short distance away from the Atlantis, any taxi driver will take you directly there. We paid $4 pp each way. There is no fee to get on the beach and there are plenty of cabs to take you back to the ship. I don't remember there being a lot of shade, but there maybe chair and umbrella rentals available. The beach is very nice.

Thanks DawnL. I knew there had to be a public beach on the Island somewhere.

Did you find a lot of people trying to sell you jewelry, hats, hair braids etc on the beach?

Yes - there were a lot of local vendors walking the beach, selling clothes, drinks, jewelry, etc. - when they asked us we just said no thank you and they moved on - it really was no problem. We didn't feel totally comfortable leaving our personal items unattended on our towels, so we just took turns going into the water with the kids. Some of us did do the banana boat ride from the beach area, I don't remember how much it was, but it was very reasonable, I think $8-$10 pp. It was a lot of fun. All in all we had a great beach day and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
