Paradise Cove Luana

We will be at the Aulani in January and want to go to a luau, DGF has never been to one, friends have been to one at the Polynesian Cultural Center said it was Ok, have read on the boards about Paradise Cove Luana, is this a show and luau? Anyone been to it? Would love to hear your thoughts?

We have done the "Deluxe" package (with a 25% discount coupon in the Entertainment book). Although the show at PCC ("HA") is the best of them all, Paradise cove is walking distance from Aulani. You can get there early to walk around the grounds, take beautiful pictures of the ocean and sunset. Then there are various activities around. Oh, did I mention the package includes alcohol. No alcohol is allowed at PCC and is close on Sundays.

We didn't do that one... but its real close to Aulani and I've only heard good things. We went to Germains Luau and it was very long... almost 5 hours....and in the middle the announcer was trying to sell his astrology books....

We went to the Paradise Cove luau in April. We were staying in Honolulu so we took the bus to/from the luau. I *adore* luaus and Polynesian dance. I have been to approximately a 7-8 luaus in the past 10 years (sometimes two in one trip!) and the Paradise Cove luau was the most disappointing of all of them. The food wasn't very good, the drinks were weak and the show was just "meh". Our package included only 2 small watered down mai tais and if I wanted one that tasted good I had to pay an upcharge. We were not driving so I wanted more than two measly mai tais. We ended up spending a lot of money on mai tai upcharges and extra mai tais. Many of the other luaus we attended on Maui and the Big Island included all you can drink mai tais so two drink tickets was annoying when we were paying $200+. FTR, the dancing at the PCC was the BEST of all the luaus I attended, although we only bought tickets to the show and not the meal too.

One more thing, we were staying at the Royal Hawaiian (aka Pink Palace) and we were at the Mai Tai Bar on the beach for our regular sunset cocktail (my other Happy Place other than WDW). The Royal Hawaiian's luau is held on the lawn next to the Mai Tai bar and we were able to watch the dancing on the sidelines while eating dinner and sipping the BEST mai tais in Hawaii. The show was great, even from the side!

Go on a Monday if you want to catch some of the dancing along with the beautiful view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head.

Another thumbs up on the Luau. 5 min walk from the hotel. Beautiful grounds. Fun show.

The cultural center is certainly the best show we've seen of (6 Luau's) over the years. The park is also not to be missed IMO. Their Luau is very good with entertainment. I know some don't like the fragmented approach with the park, then Luau then show in a theater setting. The Entertainment book has a coupon for BOGOF admission to the park which they will deduct or credit to any package except specials. IF you decide to do a package, get with them by phone or email and select your seats so you can get the best one's possible for the level you decide to do. The park opens at noon and it's over an hour to drive there from Ko Olina. Many leave early and either stop by the Dole Plantation and/or Haleiwa on the way. Many have also posted positive things about the show at the Marriott next door.

We were at Aulani in April also celebrating a special anniversary and the only Luau we ever have done was the one at WDW. So we decided to book Paradise Cove for our special night.

I booked the VIP Royal Box ($$$$$) and it was a huge disappointment.

The pre-shows were fun and the drinks were OK..... but the food was horrible. The pork was so so, The fried chicken was extremely over done (UN-eatable), the green beans were cooked to mush.

The best thing I can say about Paradise Cove is that it is in walking distance.

You could also try the luau at the Marriott Beach Club on Lagoon 3. It is called Fia Fia. I haven't tried it but I have heard it is good. It is within walking distance. Not sure what night but it used to be every Tuesday. I liked the one at Paradise Cove. I have never been to the PCC but would like to try that too.
