Parade vs. cavalcade

What is the difference between a parade and a cavalcade? We've never seen either, but we are taking my niece and nephew in a few weeks and they are interested in seeing a parade. Thinking of doing the parade in DCA and possibly catching the cavalcade in DL one afternoon. Thanks!

Cavalcade has some dancers, characters walking along the streets, characters riding in vehicles and maybe a float or two that carries characters. A parade is primarily floats with dancers in between.

For example, these are the two floats in the current cavalcade



The previous cavalcade had characters riding in Disneyland vehicles. You can see the double decker bus in the background has additional characters.



How old are your niece and nephew? If they like characters, you might check out Pixar Pals Playtime Party in the Fantasyland Theater.

Cavalcades are small/short with characters but no real big floats. They are usually under 5 minutes.

Last time I was there, in April 2024, it was really easy to see the cavalcades. A few times they happened to pass by while I was in ride lines.
