Parade and sword and the stone

I am taking the entire family to DW in Aug. for the first time. I have read in some places that they pick guest to be included in the parades. Is this true and if so is there method to the madness of being picked? Trying to make the trip more awesome for the family. I have also been told that the kids can pull the sword from the stone at MK and get special treatment. Is this true and if so whats the deal? Just trying to be the awesome DD Thanks for any help.

Both are totally picked at random. For the parades they just pick a family at random. It could be anyone. And for the Sword show, Merlin picks any kid at random. It helps to be in front for the show, but if there's a special kid there he'll usually pick that kid. So good luck. It helps to be in the right place at the right time.

For what it's worth my son was checking out the sword when Merlin arrived and was front and center during the show both times he got picked. Merlin crowned him, and he was given a certificate and a nice medallion. Pictures are on my web site linked in my sig.
