I ordered our MYW tickets from Ticketmania and just got them a few days ago. Instead of the plastic, credit card type ones with the characters on them, they are plain paper with "Happiest Celebration on Earth" printed on them. Meh.

I am being petty, but I don't like them. The other ones are so much more durable. These tickets will definitely not survive a day at the water parks. I showed them to my kids and they were disappointed.

Are all the new tickets paper, or just some? :confused3

Even my MVMCP tickets were the plastic ones.

They're the same as the old park hoppers used to be. MVMCP and MNSSHP are plastic but the others have been paper as long as I can remember, except for tickets that were on your room key of course.

I think most of the ones you get actually in Disney are paper. We bought ours at the Disney Store and they were the good plastic ones.

We will be there in 4 days using them....YAY!!!

The paper tickets are very durable. Even our annual passes have always been paper and have survived many waterpark trips!! They don't take up near as much room in your wallet/landyard(sp?) as the pastic ones. Use it and have fun! :cool1:

Just got back from disney world and used ticketmania passes. They held up pretty well for the 3 days we used them (Commando style, 3 days, 4 theme parks, 1 water park and about 10 fastpasses) The tickets still look in about new condition, I just kept them in the credit card slots of a wallet. In the water park I just rented a locker and left them there so they never got wet. I think it was definitely worth having the paper tickets to save the 60+ dollars I saved on my tickets. :)

They are not regular paper they are the "tyvek" paper that is very durable even when wet. Only the design has changed from the characters to the happiest celebration logos. FWIW, I have never had a problem with a paper pass including a few years of AP's, which are paper, including at the water parks etc.

OTOH we got MYW passes for my dd's this trip and they were plastic ones from the Disney store. Day 1 - admisstion to the park was no problem but they were too thick and jammed up every FP machine we tried at Epcot.

Day 2 - admission to MGM was fine but again they jammed the FP machine at RnRC. I had them exchanged for paper at guest relations and never had a problem again.

Just make a copy of the back in case they get damaged and if you see them looking worn have them replaced, it took about 5 minutes tops.

eta - no matter where you purchased them, ticketmania or wdw they are the same tickets. Exception is the disney store or having them on your room key.

After you are finished using these tickets, just try to tear one up. You can't because they are very durable.

Also, if you're staying at a Disney Resort, stop at the Guest Services/Concierge Desk and they will encode any piece of admission to your room key. You'll then have durable, plastic tickets.

Even though, as has been said, those "paper" tickets are INCREDIBLY durable. I did try to rip one up after use. They're pretty indestructable without a pair of scissors.

Guest services at the resort can not do anything with an annual pass. You can't even buy an annual pass at the hotel you have to go to a park to do that. And yes the paper tickets are very durable - mine lasted for a year through 3 trips with HEAVY use.

I meant any piece of admission in regards to where you purchased it. (AAA, Ticketmania, Disney...)

Thanks for clarifying! :)

We did the KTTK tour in September and our guide told us that they actually have to replace more plastic ones than the tyvek ones"paper"ones. WE have aps and have never had a problem with them.
