My LSS is moving - closing down for a while and then reopening in a new location. And they had a yard sale. So, of course I needed to stock up on everything I might need during this temporary closure, right?

My current paper storage is in a rolling file cart, arranged by color in hanging folders. There are a couple problems.

In order to have enough catagories to keep any one from being overloaded, it's so full it's heavy to move.

It's so full I can't leaf through the papers. And the corners / edges are getting bent.

Getting rid of paper is NOT an option.

What method do you use and why do you like or dislike it?

currently I have 7 cropper hoppers - yellow seasons and misc, red pink and purple, blue and holidays, Disney, white black and brown, orange green and grey, Basic Grey Cosmo Cricket Daisy D's and any other name brand paper. They are then sorted by 8.5 x 11, 12 x 12 patterned, 12 x 12 solid sub divided smooth and textured, and scraps. My scraps go into the CM 12 inch deco file folders.

seasons and holidays are separated chronologically. Disney is separated too: mickey, characters, parks, seasons, misc.
Some of the hoppers bulge a bit but I just take out the deco folders and I can flip through my paper. Oh and they sit on a shelf in my front hall closet.

You mean you don't keep your paper in piles all over the place and have to search through each one to find that paper you know you bought when it was on sale?

I have two cropper hoppers, but those filled up real fast and now I have the piles. I'm hoping to get some more hoppers and after these swaps are done, I'm going through that paper.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:There's a way to organize paper???? Other than piles????

Thanks Bernard& MissB. Piles are not an option- I have too many piles of other stuff. Anyone else? Please?

I use thin drawers that will hold the papers. Expensive but it keeps them flat.

My husband made me this with a few storage cube kits and some pull ties. It works great for me. You can make as many slots as you need depending on how many kits you buy. We bought one of the big kits and one small one at Target. Then I put some ring (the kind you have on your key chain) on the side to loop extra ribbon on. I think I'm going to add some flat shelves in the big open cube in the upper right section.

I use 12x12 paper trays I ordered from oriental trading, Michaels have them too. I sort by Disney, x-mas, misc holidays, vellum, and my colors, have 14 total and it works great for me it sits on my desk and is very easy to pull a page.

Check through Oriental Trading company, they have lots of organizers for paper, and cheeper prices than most places.

I have a wire paper storage cubey thing. It has maybe twenty shelves that hold 12 x 12 paper. I sort large scrap paper by color, then 12 x 12 paper by color, pattern, then theme.

At the end of some days, :scared: that is as technical as I can get! ;) :lmao:

I also use the storage cube thingy....got a set at a local discount store for cheap, but you can find them at Target for $15 I think. Then I got small clearish zip ties (hardware area or store) and put it together. It is just the bottom, top, left side, back, right side...front left open, using the round corner pieces that come in the kit. Then I took the "extra" waffle blocks and slid them in and zip tied them in place. You end up with lots of shelves to seperate paper.
And you can make 1 or 2 or .....as many as you need and stack them on top of each other. The finished product is approx 14X14X14 and can sit on the floor or a table if you have room.

I used that storage cube thingy for about a month. It took up too much space for me, and it didn't work as well as I thought it would. That was a waste of $$...sheesh. I use the cropper hopper plastic vertical storage now. I have paper sorted by color/pattern, cardstock, Disney...DH altered a big wooden cube from Mike's for me, and that makes great bookends. I think I have 3 of the cropper hoppers, bought at LSS going out of business sale, and Mike's with coupons...

AND I also have piles of "in use" papers for swaps, and a set of sterilite drawers for scraps by my cricut.

I use the Creative Memories paper pouches. I like that there is a pocket in the front for my scraps. I have the Deco Cart on order and it will hold my paper. Once our house is built and I have my own room, I will still use the folders but have them in a drawer. They are easy to pull out, portable, etc.

My wire paper storage thingy looks like this:
