Gah! I have been at this since about 7am CST. It is now 11am. I'm currently on hold with ticketing. Here's the deal:
I have Disney gift cards.
I spent the time to load them into a Disney vacation account (MISTAKE!!! RUN!!!).
I needed something else with MS this morning so after holding for 35 minutes at the end of that conversation I asked if the online ticket purchasing was still down. I was assured that it wasn't.
Obviously, it still is. I get stuck in an infinite loop requesting I sign-in to prove I'm DVC. I knew this was happening thus the reason I asked.
So, I spend more time on hold, only 19 minutes this time, to purchase the tickets. She tells me she cannot transfer me to ticketing, nor can she accept Disney vacation account as payment.
I take down ticketing's number. I call and wait on hold. I explain the situation and she puts me on hold.
She comes back and says only MS can help. She is telling me she doesn't know what a Disney vacation account is (I have explained it and that it has ZERO to do with DVC) and that the only forms of payment she can accept are credit cards or gift cards. She is happy to transfer me to MS.
I have now asked to speak with a ticketing supervisor. If I have just lost $2,100 I am going to be in stroke range of rage I am afraid.
Moral of the story, don't try to help by opening at Disney vacation account. It's not helpful. At all.
