We are in South Florida so I don't buy pants for my kids very often.
My DS8 needs new pants. The problem is he needs a 12 husky to fit his waist, but a 12 is TOOOO LONG. Way to long, by about 4 inches. I have tried to just cuff/roll them up but it is just too much fabric. Can anyone suggest where I can get shorter pants?

I always buy my boys the George brand pants at Wal-mart. They come in slim/regular/husky & are very well made at a bargain price. While you're there they also have nice dress shirts/ties packages in the George brand that are very nice too if you need them! Gotta keep those boys looking sharp!

Good luck!

The Lands End boys Chinos. You select the inseam and for each waist size there is about a 5 inch span. I have the opposite problem with mine he is too skinny. The have slim, reg, and husky just check for the waist you need and then check the diff lengths, you probably can find the right combination if you check a few sizes.

I have the opposite problem. My son is super skinny. We need the slim pants with the adjustable waist in a size 10. I always order them from Gap.com. They have a nice selection of slim and husky sizes.

Sorry I am not much help but I have the exact same problem. My son is 8 also and weighs almost 100lbs. He fits into size 14 pants in the waist. So I have to each year buy the waist size that fits him and I take them to the tailor- found the cheapest one I could! And have them all altered for the season. I only buy him elastic waist as I've just gotten into the habit and I search them out now. Just so he's comfortable.
This year we have some cargo pants from TCP- buy these every year. Some of the cord sailing trousers from mini-boden, and some jeans from Walmart (maybe Faded glory?). All of these are the elastic waist type.
I know it's almost impossible to find clothes that fit well and are comfortable so I symathize!
HTH and good luck :goodvibes

Try Crazy 8. First, they are CHEAP. Second, they have elastic waisted pants that aren't normally elastic waisted. Last night I found a pair of elastic wasted corduroys for my son-never seen that before. We don't actually need the elastic-he just likes it. He's short legged and skinny, though, so the elastic does help not having to cinch in those inside button thingys. Maybe it would work the opposite way-you could get smaller length pants because of the stretchy waist?

Also, try Dillards. I had that problem too and he needed some nice dress khakis. We tried everywhere. I believe they are their brand and they have two sizes of husky for waist and length. We were able to find the perfect waist and length in these. Good luck!

Sadly, when my boys were in that stage I had no choice but to purchase what fit them in the waist and them cut & hem the pants to fit. I did leave about 1 inch longer knowing they would grow taller over the winter.

UGHH! I am having the same problem. DS 9 needs a 14 waist - but they are too long. I tried a 12H and they are too big and too long - which I don't understand because a 12 is not too long. He is a little chunky around the waist - but not so much that he should be hard to fit. He loves his elastic waist pants. I'll have to check crazy 8 for more of those.

We have the same problem with my DS who just turned 10. Part of his problem is that he has very muscular thighs (he's a catcher for baseball and a blocker in football). I find that husky cargo pants usually fit better than other types of pants. We try pants on all the time, no matter what store we are in and when we find ones that fit, we buy them all. Since he is really into sports, he likes to wear sports warm-up type pants. We have found Puma pants to fit him pretty well. We get them at Marshall's.
Good luck. I feel your pain.

How does crazy 8's sizing work= I have a skinny 8 year old that fits into Gymboree 8- are the Crazy 8 the same sizing?
Thanks because this is the sensitive child that won't wear button pants.

Thanx for all the ideas. I picked up 2 pair at walmat but am having a hard time with the fact of having to pay to have walmart pants hemmed. It is good to know I am not the only one with the waist and length issue. I would go nuts if I had to buy more than 2 - 3 pair a year. Thankfully DS waers shorts most of the time. I think I will check out Lands End.

BTDT - now I'm enjoying having him not only fit into men's sizes (28 x 30), but he's now medicated for ADHD, so he dropped some weight, and has lost most of the belly.
