Hi all ~ I'll make my long story short. I have suffered from Panic Attack Disorder (aniexty attacks) thru my life. I haven't had one in years. But they started up again a couple days ago. Today was a great day and I hope I don't experience any more. Does anyone else suffer these attacks? S

Hi Sandra. I know there are a few of us here that suffer from anxiety attacks. They are scary. I've actually used the DIS to talk myself out of a few of them. I've been on meds now for over a year and they work wonderfully. I'll probably be on them for the rest of my life, but its worth it to me, because they also help me with GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) where you worry about everything to the point of making yourself sick. I haven't had a panic attack since about 3 weeks ago when I tried to come off my meds (stupid, stupid me) and before that, it was about a year.
I'm sure you'll hear from more of us soon.
PM me if you want, but I'll be out at church until 2:00 today.

Take it easy, and hopefully those nasty attacks will stay away.

Sandra I am sorry to hear that you had an attack after a whole year. My daughter is 10 and she has had them since kindergarten. It is just awful to watch someone go through this. One time she got herself so worked up she vomited. Poor thing. She is much, much better now as the attacks are far and few between. She only seems to get them now when her class does body/health related lessons and her teachers have been wonderful about letting her leave (bolt out of) the room when she reaches her limit. She gets as white as a sheet and breaks out into a cold sweat. At least at this age she recognizes what is going on and will say to me," I know I'm just having nerves."
She has already said to me, "There is NO way I am going to the Museum of Science next year for the Human devolopment field trip!" She'd have a stroke watching the film of the baby being born.
Good luck to you!!

All my life. :( Since kindergarten. On and off through the years. Panic disorder is awful and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

I haven't had a full blown attack in about 10 years! :) But I have waves of "panicky" feelings often that I can talk myself through.

Best of luck to you. I sympathize with you.

My 12 year old DS has had them for several years. He does much better with his meds. I hate to see him have one so I feel for anyone that does have them.
