Memories or Regrets
We dream of being more. To be thinner, faster, stronger, better educated, more understanding, our desires are as individual as we are. We imagine ourselves achieving more, beating the best, taking the lead, winning. We can see it. We can feel it. Time and again we dream, but then never do anything differently. We do as we have been doing week after week, going through the motions, hoping for a break through. Is this the time to stop dreaming and start achieving? To become the person you imagine that you could be, if only you had the chance.
Do you want to start the next new year with some amazing memories or do you want to start it regretting that you didnt act on your dreams? Will this be the year that you take a stand and start making those dreams come true? Will you turn your desire into a plan with some achievable goals as mile stones to guide you? Dreams are earned. They are bought with intensity and determination that you will not be stopped. Have you ever imagined that if you could put it all together, the diet, the exercise the right plan, magic would happen. Would taking classes to become more educated really be that difficult? Could you learn to be more tolerant and understanding of others? No matter what your dreams are, if you want them enough you can find a way. Could this be the year that you turn your dreams and desires into reality? Of course it can be, you just have to get moving.
Change must start with determination. Dont tell yourself, I will try, instead say, "I will not be denied". You have to mean it and commit to it. Believe in yourself, know you are worth the effort. Past failures do not mean that you will fail in the future. You have to know that you can be enough. Finally, you have to make a decision that there will be no excuses only results. Everyday take another step forward. Then rest, recharge your mind and body for the next day. Those clear well defined goals, that you made, will insure you are on the right path.
When we want it bad enough and make our decision to go after it, then we have to start doing some things differently than we did before. Achieving means not giving into temptations. For those of us wanting to become better athletes, it means eating what we need, but avoiding what we know is bad for us. It means not only just training as we have been, but going a little harder or longer at least once a week. It means sometimes going as hard as we can for as long as we can, then giving a little more. It means doing all the workouts not just the easy ones. It means stretching and cross training when our body needs a break.
Most of all, going after your dreams means that you are willing to risk failure to find out if you can be the person you have imagined you could be. It means that you have to know that you are on a journey to a place you have never been, but its where you should be. Where that journey will take you is up to you. When you make clear achievable goals, you have a trail to follow, a trail that leads to your personal destiny. Your dreams really are achievable and waiting for you to decide it's time to make them your reality.
Are your dreams possible and attainable? Do you want them bad enough to find out? I quote a lot of old sayings in my writing but I believe this is a new one, worthy of passing on. Memories are made when you dont quit, regrets are made when you do.
Thanks for reading.
