Has anyone received upgrades on the Disney Panama Canal voyages or had luck upgrading at the port? If so, what category did you have and what did you upgrade to? If you upgraded at the port what was the price difference?

For the 2014 WBPC we booked a 11C rather short notice. They had not been available before and then suddenly became available after the pay in full date. We were not able to chose a cabin, but were in GTY status. Just after we booked, an IGT rate became available. But since we moved an onboard booking, we came out at about the same as the IGT rate considering the 200$ onboard credit.

We were then assigned a 10B stateroom, so that was an upgrade. However, the stateroom was not in a good state at all (the floor was so wobbly that the coffee table could not stand on it properly and there were other issues) and after we let guest services know, we were moved to a 10A stateroom.

They told us that the cruise was sold out, i.e. every cabin was sold. But the ship was not filled to capacity as there were a lot of cabins with only one or two people in it and the Disney ships have a higher capacity per stateroom.

We also were on the second to last 5-night cruise on the Wonder before the WBPC in 2013 and the cruise director told us that that cruise was sold out as well.

I think besides maybe getting an upgrade if you have a GTY or an IGT, OGT, VGT booking there is very little chance to get an upgrade at the port.

Hello, do you remember approximately what the savings was from price at pay in full date compared to the GTY or IGT price that opened up after PIF date? We have some friends that want to go EBPC in October but can't afford posted prices right now. We are booked and have PIF coming up in a few weeks.

I think when we got the 11C, it was about 300 $ less than the 11B that was available until then and then we got the 10% discount as well. The IGT was well under the 11C rate, I think about 500 $ under the 11C rate. But I am really not sure about it.

However, keep in mind that there is never a guarantee for those to come out! It really depends on how well bookings go. For our cruise they first came out with an OGT rate and it was only very late in the game that the IGT rate came out. I would recommend checking daily as those rates might disappear very quickly once they come out. I also think the Panama Canal cruises have become far more popular than they used to be just a few years ago, at least Disney is charging more for them, so they seem to be able to fill the ship.

We upgraded at the port this month. We upgraded from a 10a to a 9a for $370 for a family of 3. There were no verandah ' s available. Also, we had opening day prices plus the 10% off obb. The igt and ogt prices were never cheaper than opening day.

I have an opening day 9A Accessible and looking for an accessible verandah, but don't think I
am going to have any luck for the Oct 23rd, 2015 Eastbound PC. The cruise does not seem to
be sold out but I know the accessible cabins go fast. I will pay for our cruise this week and hope
something opens up after our PIF date the end of June, 2015.

I had an inside 11B booked until I read this thread. I decided to upgrade to an ocean view. I'm not counting on an upgrade at the port. If I get one I will be delighted and surprised. Thank you again for the input!

FWIW, I watched the WBPC 2015 cruise like a hawk for a year. We wanted to get an IGT last minute rate. They released OGT rates, but IMHO they were not that great. We were able to book a military GTO discount in February for the May 1 sailing. We were not GTY and had a midship, deck 2 oceanview room. The rate was fair-ish for a last minute booking and was still more than opening day prices. The OGT rates were also higher than opening day.

The reason there were no IGT rates available is because they were doing a major cast turnover/training, so they had two full teams onboard and allowed the crew with contracts ending to move out of their bunks and in to the inside cabins on decks 1 and 2. I constantly saw "Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiana, Tarzan" and a few others in the hallways leaving their rooms...in full makeup before costume changes.
