Pam's Low Carb Road (Comments Welcome)

Stayed up way too late last night. Soccer games today for my DD7. Beautiful day outside today, but today was one of those days I felt sorry for myself. Shoot, why do I do that?? But I kept on program. I kept telling myself I will feel a lot worse if I deal with it with food. I guess it wasn't really my weight so much, although that didn't help, as much as it was a feeling like I just don't add up to much. I must be having a melancholy day, because I know that's stupid! It was a rough day with the kids, too. DH was sick, so he couldn't go to the soccer game and I was left to the 3 kids alone all day. How do single parents do it?? I think I missed half of my DD's game running after my DS3. And then they wouldn't stop getting on each other's nerves, which in turn, got on MINE! They are usually not like this so when they are, it throws me off. Oh well, at least I was able to keep on program. And thank God for early bedtimes:D . It's Saturday night, tomorrow's Sunday and church starts at 8:30am:eek: and I'm teaching 4th grade Sunday school and my DH teaches an adult SS class. I need to get to bed early tonight.

WOW! Had a steak today for the first time in a while. I absolutely stuffed myself. I usually try to keep my calories down too, but today, I went for it. :teeth:

Also, made two heads of cauliflower by boiling it, adding butter and some velveeta. OH MY GOODNESS, WAS THIS EVER GOOD! I had read about mock mashed potatoes but hadn't tried them. Man, this is THE substitute for mashed potatoes. My family fell on them. More expensive than potatoes, but who wants to put a price on health, right??

OK. It's confession time. Last night the temptation of the leftover mashed potatoes and corn got the best of me. Really, really STUPID. WHY DID I DO THAT??? I AM SO MAD!
What was I thinking? Obviously, I WASN'T thinking!!!!

Whatever. Now I start again from scratch. I can never make it to the 21 day mark. UUUUggggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

ok. ok. Just stop and get over it. It's history. Learn from this. You know what I've learned? Nothing tastes as good as my cheat free clippie feels!!:D Next time I cheat, it better be something like Thanksgiving or Christmas, because otherwise it just isn't worth it. Now I have to lose those same few pounds all over again.

Your journal looks fabulous! You are doing a terrific job --- I can tell that you are very committed to this way of eating. You must be one of those lucky ones that doesn't stall from the bars and shakes. So many people say that those things stall them big time if they use them for more than emergencies. I've never seen the herbalife bars --- are they good?

Keep up the good work!:D

Well Jody,
I think maybe the candy affects me more than the bars. But I will definately keep vigilant about that.

The Herbalife bars are great. Or I should say the choc. coconut and choc. fudge are great because I don't like the lemon or choc. peanut butter. I know people that like those flavors but I guess everybody has there own tastes.

We probably go thru a box a week and a box contains 14. My kids love them. They have them for an afternoon snack. It's so much better for them than Little Debbie's!! :D

Thanks for the encouragement, too. That is always welcome.:D

Well, I'm up early today. Lots of things to get accomplished and tons of housework, not to mention homeschooling.

Tonight I leave for a women's retreat with about 30 ladies from our church. I'm a little nervous because I have no control over what is being served, food wise. Yikes! I'm hoping that they have some kind of meat. Just watch, it will be PASTA NIGHT or something! Well, I'm bringing my soynuts, water, protein bars....oh I hope I don't need them. And I also hope they have eggs for breakfast.....please,please......

Oh, Pam! Those retreats are HARD!! Definitely take food with you and don't be afraid to eat it in front of everyone else. Just tell them that you're working on a healthier you and it's important to you!!

You're doing fine. The bump in the road this week (with the leftovers) was unfortunate but nothing you can't bounce back from. Each day, in fact each meal, we get another chance to make good healthy food choices!! I know what you mean about losing that cheat free clippie though! I was prowling the kitchen last night, looking to find cheat food, but everything I found didn't look good enough to start my cheat free count over! You made it for WEEKS without cheating - you should be proud of yourself!!!

Keep up the good work and I'm sending good thoughts for your retreat this weekend!!

Well, the retreat went well. Dinner Friday night was great. Had a chicken breast and salad. Breakfast....just as I had feared....fruit, bagels, oatmeal cake, muffins and juice. I had brought food so I SAT THERE WITH MY TWO CHEESESTICKS AND COFFEE!! How about that!:teeth: I felt mighty proud of myself. I got pretty hungry during the day though. That night I think I had too many calories .....I just couldn't fill up. I think it was because I had a tiny breakfast.

Sunday.....did ok on carbs I think but I went way over on calories. I had actually gained a pound when I woke up Monday morning.

Monday:

Today is the first day of the KISS challenge. This is going to be hard. But I'm going to give it my best shot.

****WAIT!!!!!****
It's 11:10pm (couldn't sleep) and I tested my Keto stick just to see.....IT'S PURPLE!! How did that happen?? Maybe there is something to this "no sugar alcohol" thing. This is amazing!

WOW!!! I lost enough to get MY 10 POUND CLIPPIE!!:teeth:

I'm so excited. I kept playing around with the same 2-3 pounds and now it's finally off. Yeeeeeeeehhaaaaaaa!!!!!

Today we have a field trip and I can't think of anything to bring except a hard boiled egg and some radishes. Usually, I would bring a protein bar but that's out for two weeks while I'm on the KISS challenge. I'll think about what to have for dinner later.

3 scrambled eggs
butter
4 hard boiled eggs
radishes 3 carbs
beef
chicken
and cauliflower,cauliflower, cauliflower!!!

Day 3 of KISS

Break. -
scrambled eggs

Lunch- really busy so I opted for 2 hardboiled eggs

Dinner - 4 oz. chicken breast, raw broccoli, squash, mint tea

Keto stick- dark pink

256 pounds

253lbs:teeth: (did I ever think that I would smile when those numbers came out of my mouth):upsidedow

WOW!! I can't believe this. I am down another 3 pounds. That makes 6 total pounds in 3 days. This makes me feel great because I am still working on getting off the weight that I had gained after I had lost it!! Does that make any sense?:p I was up to 48 lbs gone, then gained 28 back! Uggghhh!! Stupid, stupid, stupid. Oh well, I'm back on track now.

I didn't really feel hungry last night, but I did go to bed with an empty feeling. It was actually nice to feel that way. For so long it was the opposite.....I would stuff myself.

So, today is day 4 on KISS. I think maybe I'm cutting calories, too, because I'm not eating cheese, blue cheese dressing, stuff like that. I'm just trying to figure out how I've lost so much so fast. Was I really being that bad with my art. sweetener and processed meats??

OK. Now it's time for the "what have you eaten today" part.:D

B:
3 scrambeld eggs
Tea

L:
4 oz chic. breast
water

D:chicken salad, chicken salad, chicken salad...I think I overdid it!

Well, today was a bust.

Went to someone's house for dinner and it was baked ZITI, rolls and apple pie for dessert. I just splurged. I enjoyed it while I ate it because I knew the next day I was going right back to KISSing.:teeth:

Didn't weigh myself either, and probably won't for a couple of days. You know, you tend to get down after you've gained and then it seems like it goes down hill from there?? Well, I don't want that to happen. So much of this is psychological, isn't it??

I am back on track today. I changed my KISS challenge to day one. I think I really want to do 14 days straight, maybe more. And I also changed my star clippie. Will I ever get to 20, let alone 100??? Oh well, here we go..............:D

You're doing just fine, Pam!! You sound like you're right back on track. You can do this!! I'll be checking in and watching the numbers on your star clippie go up and up!! I think 20 sounds like a good goal!

You are in a good mindset Pam! You will ALWAYS have special occasions when you go to eat at someone's house, holidays, vacations, etc ---- but as long as you get right back on track you are STILL succeeding! Why don't you wait until monday morning to weigh in [after working real hard at KISSing over the weekend]. Don't think about that ONE night that went bad but look at the big picture. I think you may still show a good weekly loss come monday morning. AND you are so close to being in the 240's!!!!!!!!! Won't it feel SO GOOD to leave the 250's behind you!

I stayed the same from yesterday until today. Tonite I am going to a chinese BUFFET with my cousin. I might have a salad with oil & vinegar dressing then I plan to choose whatever fish dish they have. PLUS they usually have green beans and ofcourse the steamed shrimp and crab legs with BUTTER! I will try to really watch that I don't over indulge in the butter because I just KNOW that will make me retain water. UGH!

So here is to WISHing you a succesful KISS weekend!:sunny:

Oh, Doreen and Jody,

You guys are just what I needed today!:sunny: You are so encouraging. Thanks. It means a lot.

I am doing great today. It feels good. I think I will do what you suggested Jody. I will wait to weigh in until Monday. I forgot that Monday will be a week. Man, does time ever fly.

Well, I'm off to a Missionary conf. at church. I planned a lot better for this one. (Ofcourse, with this meal I knew what they were serving!:D ) I'm just going to have the pork and maybe salad if they have it. The rest of the meal .......forget it.......baked potatoes, corn and pies. I made two Kentucky Derby pies for tonight...the smell is about killing me. Can you ingest carbs by smelling??:crazy2: :scratchin

Well, still haven't had the guts to weigh in yet. Missionary conf. at church and apple and grape picking thru me for a loop. All of these wonderful fruits around.

Made applesauce and grape jam this week. The kids and I had a blast at the apple/grape orchards. Absolutely beautiful weather here. When we went picking, it was in the mid 70's, clear sky and the trees......Oh my lands, it was just too beautiful for words. We are so blessed to live in the finger lakes region. Nothing like seeing my kids up in apple trees on a sunny, fall day, overlooking a lake. This time of year is my favorite. Love the colors and brisk air.

Back on program today. I took away my 100 day challenge clippie. Maybe in the future I will try again. Right now, I'm just going to try to get thru each day. Going to try to get to 7 days with KISS. Don't know if my life can handle the 14 days. Something always comes up. I find it easy to find Atkins food if we are out, but not a lot of KISS food. I don't know what it is. But I'm going to try for 7. :D

So far today:
Breakfast:
2 scrambled eggs
Lunch:
3 oz pork
Dinner:

Back on KISS today. I have had a lot of trouble sticking with my plan. I am going to just think about getting through the next meal.

Breakfast- scrambled eggs, butter, tea

Lunch- beef

Dinner-

I AM GOING TO DO THIS TODAY. YOU ALL ARE MY WITNESSES. I WILL HAVE A GOOD DAY IF IT TAKES ME DUCK TAPING MY MOUTH!:p :earseek:

I've had one day back on program after being WAY OFF for a while. It feels good.

My goal is to stay on program everyday until Christmas. I'll let myself have some carb foods on that day, but will need to get back on program after that if I want my onederland by Spring!

Breakfast - Scrambled eggs, cheese, tea :D:

Lunch - French onion soup

Dinner -

What a bummer of a day. My kids are all sick and I think I'm finally getting it too. Yuck! Wed. is our busy day: piano lessons, dinner at church, kids program at church which I help teach, and I also have about 25 Pampered Chef orders to deliver (the worst part of having a party). Don't know how I'm going to do it all.
But no matter what, I need to stay on plan, right Cheryl??(My new pm buddie)

Well, here goes.............
