Wondering if this is made in one piece of metal? Does it work well? Trying to find one like my MIL's ancient one that I just love!

I've had my first one (I have 2 of them) for 10 years. No issues, the only ice cream scoop that will ever be in my house. My Mom's is almost 20 years old and the same thing.

It's all once piece metal, or maybe there is a plastic circle on the end of it. Hmmmm....I can't remember.

Don't know if it was just a fluke, but my sister had one and everytime she would scoop icecream it would have silver on the icecream like it was rubbing off or something. She ended up throwing it away.

I thought it was one piece of metal filled with some kind of liquid that when it is warmed by your hand it melts right through the ice cream. I lost mine and am hoping to find it soon or buy a new one.

I will also say (because I forget it sometimes), that I used to be a Pampered Chef consultant. This was more than 7 years ago. There are some of their products that I don't like. But the scoop is one that I've never heard of anyone having a problem with. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, as no matter how well made something is, there can always be some sort of issue with a few in the batch.

Love my PC icecream scoop.

And true about the liquid. And if it is like other ice cream scoops. It should only be washed in cold water. I worked in an ice cream parlor for 5 yrs..

I don't have a PC ice cream scoop, but my mom does and it's what I mostly used growing up. I'm lactose intolerant since about 19, so I have no real need since froyo is so soft. The PC scoop works wonders for harder ice creams though. The warming liquid really does help and the scoop itself feels nice and solid. It easily creates fairly uniform scoops.

My guess is she probably stuck it in a dishwasher or didn't wash it properly by hand. As another poster mentioned it should only be cleaned by hand in cold water. My husband tossed mine in the dishwasher years ago (even though he KNEW the only wash by hand in cold water rule) and runined it. After that one run through the dishwasher I started having the problem with the silver streaks in the ice cream. Now I have a new scoop....hidden in a location so only I use it and wash it :thumbsup2

I am a Pampered Chef consultant and the ice cream scoop is amazing. I love it. I have never had any problems with mine and mine is about 8 years old. I have never had any complants. I have been a consultant 2 years. The only thing you need to remember is to not put it in the dishwasher. It does something to the liquid inside. The ice cream scoop is one piece with a plastic circle on the bottom.

Love mine and have had it since 1997 and my DH eats ice cream several time a week. We only rinse it well in cold water after use. I never let it sit in dishwater or put it in the dishwasher.
