I apologize for asking but I’m traveling and only have access via my phone so having a hard time finding the info. We sail on the Wish on Aug 29 (4 nt) and have Palo brunch and dinner booked on day 2. I haven’t sailed since 2020 and I’ve never done both on one cruise before. How does the CC benefit work? Do you get comped for the first meal or can you choose which to get the benefit for? If so, how/when do you specify? Also, with the changes to dinner, is there still a pre-fixe option that you are comped for in full or do you just get $45 per person deducted from your bill and everything is a la carte? If pre-fixe is available, how many courses are included?

Thanks in advance. We’re traveling with another Platinum party that is watching their budget carefully and would appreciate the info so they can decide how to proceed.

You should get comped $45 per person in the room for your first meal at Palo. The cost is $45 for both brunch and the prix fixe dinner menu, so it doesn’t really matter which meal gets the credit.

The prix fixe dinner menu has 4 courses: appetizer (2 choices), salad (2 choices), entree (4 choices), and dessert (2 choices).

We are on a B2B on the Wish and did Palo brunch on the first cruise, which was comped as normal. We did dinner at Palo last night, and they took $45/pp off our bill (we did a la carte), as the fixed price menu is a little limited with what you can choose.

So doing a la cart what was total bill for food not including any extra cost for drinks?

This will vary wildly, depending on how many courses/what you order (just like any restaurant). Ours was around $150 (minus $90) for the food items we ordered.

Check out the menus for Palo Steakhouse on Disneycruiselineblog dot com. It shows both the Prix Fix menu and a la carte. (I’ll post them below).

I‘m pretty sure (based on my memory from Dream and Magic this year) that there is no automatic gratuity for the Prix Fix menu food, but any items bought in addition to it - or entirely a la carte - have the 18% auto gratuity on the bill.

This is crazy. Pre-pandemic it was $40 a person and and you could order what ever you wanted on the dinner menu and the brunch had an all you "care to eat" buffet. Just another money grab using the Covid as an excuse!

Palo brunch is still all you care to eat but from the menu which has a large list of items to choose from.

We’re doing dinner first then brunch. Only want a couple items from dinner menu so wouldn’t use the whole platinum benefit $45 . Will they allow us to pay out of pocket for dinner then use $45 platinum credit for brunch?

We had the same Palo's limited brunch on the Fantasy this past February and it is not the same at all.

I agree that it is not the “same”. I have done brunch twice since the change and never left wanting more. It’s just different. There are fewer dessert options and the cheese selection and small plate availability is not there, but there is more than enough options to satisfy most people. You can order as many dishes as you like, in fact our waiter kep encouraging us to try more.

I don't want to even blame this on COVID anymore. Maybe it was in the beginning but now I think this is just a money grab, period. It is across all of Disney, not just the cruise and has changed the way I look at Disney vacations.

If I was doing Palo dinner I would try to keep the cost as close to $45 as possible using that a la carte menu because the fixed menu is so limited.

I have not been on any other cruise lines yet but does anyone know how this compares to specialty restaurants on the other cruise lines?

I can only speak to Viking Ocean cruises but for the two specialty restaurants (The Chef's Table and Manfredi's) there is no upcharge for dining although I'm sure there is some extra charge for alcohol (don't drink so I don't know).

For NCL you can either buy a dining package for a set fee per restaurant or do a la carte. It’s much cheaper to do the dining package in most of their restaurants. But you can still order one item per course off the regular menu with the package, it’s not a prix fixe like DCL.
