Palo Dinner: pirate night or last night?

currently I have Palo booked for pirate night with a request in for a dining rotation of ERAERRA so we would be in Royal court for formal night. I am beginning to second guess my choice for our palo reservation and thinking I might enjoy a nice night out on our final evening to celebrate our anniversary and the winding down of our first cruise! Would you recommend keeping my current palo reservation on pirate night ( hubby and I aren't into crowds or dressing up which is why I originally chose this night for palo) or would you think I might be better off switching to last night and enjoying Palo as our last experience on ship?

I would suggest pirate night, as the last night in the sinning rooms is great and a nice way to say good bye to your servers, plus the dressing up at Palo your luggage has to be out by 10pm. Disembarkation day you have to get up early and so a late Palo the night before doesn't work for us.

I say pirate night. I'm usually in food overload by the last night.

We always do Palo on Pirate Night because we also don't care for all of the hoopla in the dining rooms (nor do I love the Pirate Night menu). We also often just check to see if there is anything available in Palo on the last night right before dinner time. If they are not fully booked, you can sometimes get a "walk in" appointment. Going to Palo twice on a cruise is very nice!

We usually alternate dining at Palo & Remy with Pirate night & the 1st night (great way to start a cruise).

the last night is too crazy for me. i would enjoy pirate night better

We did it both of those nights on our last cruise. We thought the service was better on the last night since the restaurants was much less crowded. We had the same server both times. On the last night we just made an early enough reservation that we had time to go back to the cabin and pack, etc.

How about both? :)

Failing that, Pirate night would be my choice.

I am not a super-huge fan of the Pirate Night menu, and that last night *is* a bit crazy getting ready for disembarkation. I would prefer Palo on a night where we can take our time and savor the experience, not worry about getting back to the room to prepare for the next morning.

And I bet 8 out of 10 people would agree that you aren't "missing out" on anything when skipping the Pirate Night menu.

We have done both as well as first night and would choose Pirate night now as the food is lousy that night in the MDR IMO.

Hi,

While our family has never been on the Dream or the Fantasy, but we have done many cruises. I would recommend doing pirate night as your Polo night. I like spending the last night of the cruise with our dinning rotation service team. The last night of your cruise can be the night you gie your service team the tip vouchers for their excellent service so you do not have to give it to them in the morning. Whenever you decide to go to Palo's, have fun and enjoy the food and the experience!

For me and DH, this is how I would start the thought process.

Palo on Pirate night would be fabulous, as we seriously dislike that night's menu for vegetarians. Would be a great way to avoid that.

But if we had Palo on the *last* night, it would FORCE us to get as packed as humanly possible in the afternoon, rather than waiting until the last minute. And that would be infinitely better, since the last minute packing usually involves obnoxious arguments (and DH managing to pack all shoes but the flipflops I had on, which were VERY cold to fly cross-country in). Either way, that last night DS is in the kid's club, but at least we would be having a nice time instead of questioning how we ever thought we got along. (easy to joke about now! but not on that last evening)

If we had the budget, we might come to the conclusion that BOTH nights were worth it. For us, not because Palo is so amazing, but because it's better than pirate night menu or having deep, negative, thoughts about marriage in general.

:)

We do Pirate Night in Palo when its just me and hubby, when we are with the kids and grandkids, we suck it up and attend Pirate Night in the MDR.
Not my favorite menu, but I love how our grandkids enjoy it.

We always do Pirate Night. And I'd hate to miss the opportunity to say goodbye to our dining staff by doing it the last night.

Same here, Palo for Pirate night, then change and head to the top deck and find a nice spot for the fireworks...

We are going to be eating at Palo on our last night. My plan is to have most things packed the day before. We are early diners, so I don't foresee any problems with having everything packed by 10 pm.
