Hi,

Cruise newbies...as in, never cruised ever...not DCL, not any other line...so, we are totally full of excitement! Have heard great things about Palo Brunch and would like to try...we will be on the 7-Night Western on the Fantasy in Feb. Would you recommend booking for the first sea day or second...I am leaning second since we are newbies and will still be exploring the first day...but wanted your EXPERT advice!

THANKS

Whichever date you are able to reserve.

I usually like to try and book for the first day at sea. We have run into issues before where they had to change the itinerary for one reason or another - and if they do that, you can still have a second attempt to go there.

I can't recall exactly what happened, but we found out late that they were swapping 2 days, and we had just finished breakfast and then got back to our room to a message that our brunch was that day :scared1:

Am I right in thinking that we can try to book online when our registration opens (90 days out)...and if that doesn't work, we might also be able to book on the ship?

That is correct except that, as new cruisers, your window opens at 75 days out.

If you are a new cruiser as indicated in your OP then you will not be able to book adult dining until 75 days out.

New cruisers- 75 days out
Silver - 90 days out
Gold- 105 days out
Platinum/Concierge- 120 days out

If you do get a reservation, don't forget to try the Chicken Parmesan. I am having dreams about it. :rotfl:

Don't worry if you can't get a Palo brunch reservation at 75 days. Disney holds some back for booking onboard. You should be able to get a reservation or at least get on a wait list once you board.

Exactly what the other poster has said, it may appear that Palo is already sold out if you try to book it online 75 days out. Just go to Palo/guest services (you can look in the navigator when you board to see where they are taking reservations on boarding day) right when you board.

This happened to my husband and I so we went to the place they were taking reservations (for us it ended up being in one of the rotational dining rooms) and we had a wide variety of times to pick from for brunch even though online 105 days out said they were already 'sold out" :-)

In my own personal opinion, Palo Brunch is not to be missed! The chicken park is to die for and the dessert buffet is worth the cost alone!

It will be our first time doing Palo dinner in november on the fantasy and we are really looking forward to that, too!!

We love Palo. We have done brunch and dinner and will be doing it again in January when we do a back to back on the Fantasy to celebrate our 55th anniversary. We will book both for each cruise, plus, we keep hearing how wonderful Remy's is, so we are going to try it once and see if it is worth the price. We have a $150 onboard credit, so that will pay for the dinner and we will decide about the wine pairing later. Can't wait for January to get here.
