I'm still trying to figure out why a Gov would have a yahoo email anyway. I could understand if this was a secondary email that wasn't used for official business. And why would she use such 'easy' answers as her password? She just doesn't seem too bright. No, how easy it is to hack someone’s email doesn't make it less legal but my goodness. You'd think an elected official would use a little common sense.

This is a major gaffe on Palin's part. I feel this is indicative of her security efforts if she was in the 2nd highest office in America.

Well Mossman - I hate to correct you, but there was a conservative political hacker . . . OK it was in NJ. The director of the Republican legislative services hacked the Democrat's legislative (official, not personal) server. He resigned in disgrace to become a "lobbyist" for the state's largest and most politically connected law firms.

And with the economy in a crisis, hurricanes ravishing the south and being a country at war, there are far more pressing issues than Palin's Yahoo account being hacked into. Palin gets half the blame in this hacking situation. She (or her staff) should not have allowed this to happen. There are plenty of ways to secure one's EMAIL. Scares me to think what hackers would get at if she become VP.

From the first article on wired.com:


"The subject line of an e-mail from Randall Ruaro, her deputy chief of staff reads, "Draft letter to Governor Schwarzenegger." Another one from Ruaro says, "Please approve" and another one is about "Court of Appeals Nominations."

Other e-mails from Ruaro indicate they're about employee and budget issues for the DPS. DPS is how Alaska refers to its Department of Public Safety.

Palin's chief of staff, Michael Nizich, sent her an e-mail August 22 with the subject line, "Using Royalty Oil to Lower the Cost of Fuel for Alaskans." The subject line of another e-mail from Nizich reads "CONFIDENTIAL Ethics Matter."

E-mails from the governor's scheduler, Janice Mason, indicate that they're about Palin's schedule for the week of August 10."

I believe this qualifies as state run business matters. Do you disagree?

The point I'm making here is she was using this easily hackable yahoo email account for official state run business instead of staying behind the Department of Defense email security architecture.

Her lack of judgment in this matter is going to crumble her credibility, and deservedly so.

The woman gets half the blame in this rape situation. She should not have allowed this to happen. There are plenty of ways to dress less provocatively to prevent a rape.

The car owner gets half the blame for this auto theft. He should not have allowed this to happen. There are plenty of ways to lock and secure one's car.



The fact that a car owner may not lock their car does not excuse the COMPLETE blame of the car thief. The fact that a woman may dress provocatively does not excuse the COMPLETE blame of the rapist. And because Gov. Palin did not use email security measures up to your standards does not excuse the COMPLETE blame of the hacker!

Subject lines don't mean anything. So far the content of any released emails is appropriately in the private email account.

From the link embedded in that story:

She is allowed to keep e-mails confidential if they fall into certain categories, such as "deliberative process," said her press secretary, Bill McAllister.

And, he said later, she appropriately uses her personal Yahoo account for political activities.
