Has anyone used the Pal Mickey? Is this something you would recommend? It looks like it might be fun to have so I am checking with some of you experts to see what you think. :earsboy:

Thanks for any info.

My friends borrowed ours for their May 2005 trip and loved it. The Pal would tell them of shows and attractions, but more importantly, it would let them know where the characters were, especially if they were near.

I had read that it was annoying at times, however, my friends did not see it that way. In fact, they would never go to WDW without one.

When you read other reviews, be aware that they just released a new version of the Pal Mickey, with improved volumn and software, so there is a version 1.0 and 1.1. Version 1.0 is what my friends used.

Thanks for heads up on the new version. I have been looking at these at online auctions and would much prefer to get the newest one avaialble. I can't wait to go and we are not going until next oct. Thanks again

How much do they cost now? Are they selling both the old and new veersion, or just new? Thought it would be a new idea for my "professional Disney dudes" of 13 and 9 and cute to let my 18 mo hold.

The ones on ebay are going for around 28-40 plus shipping cost. I think they are like 50 - 65 from disney. Not sure about that. Some of them on ebay are new others are used.

I bought the 50th celebration Pal Mickey and it's $65. I also bought the one from last year, I can't remember how much, I think it was $60. Now my son and my daughter each got their own.

I've had mine since 2003 (shortly after they came out), and he's great--The jokes get old--but as they have updated things in the park he also has updated. I did have to have the microchip updated--they just scan his nose.
I think he's great, and I still find things out about the parks I didn't know.

We rented version 1 last August. We fell in love with him and decided to purchase version 2 when we were there in May. We all take turns sharing him throughout the day. Although it is true that he offers a wealth of information, for us though his best attribute is entertaining us with his corny jokes and games while we wait on line for rides.
I also heard that they will begin marketing different outfits for him soon! :rotfl2: What will they think of next?

we got one late may and it was $70.00 yes, expensive, but fun! :goodvibes

I got mine from eBay for $56, but it is the version 1.0. The new ones at WDW were $59 plus tax. They use to rent them, but stopped that now. I read that Disney will start to sell outfits for the Pal Mickey starting in Aug, so you can dress him up like a Build-a-bear. That should get some extra life from him.

My friends kids would fight over who was going to carry him. They are 11,8,6 - so he is fun for everyone.

My 9-year old daughter used her Disney Dollars to buy him last October and has loved him ever since. He is a lot of fun and very informative. She plays with him at home and can hardly wait to bring him back this year! :earsgirl:

He works all over Walt Disney World. My dd loves him. She just made him some new clothes. Some of the hats/shoes at Build a bear fit him. The clothes are way too big. We got him an outfit at AC Moore that fits bears that are 8"-12". It's a little big. My dd has made him PJ's and a tank top and shorts. He's a lot of fun!

We used the first version in 2004 and I just bought the 50th Anniversary version off Ebay for $45.00 for our trip this Oct.

We thought it was a lot of fun. Mickey told us when the lines at various rides were short. He told us about hidden things in the parks. One that I remember was that he told us to pull on a rope (sorry forgot which park) and a sign popped open. He told us a when to start looking for a spot for the Epcot fireworks and where to stand based on where we were at the time. The spot was perfect.

We had a problem with the first one we bought but when we had one of the cm's look at it they just gave us a brand new one.

It is expensive but I recouped almost all of what I paid for the first one by relisting it on Ebay when we got home.

/when we went down a couple years ago we rented one and we loved it!! Afterward we were wishing that we had bought it!! Who knew that they would have caught on?? :confused3 Anyway, we will be getting at least one while we are on our next trip!! Hey, there are four teenagers going with us!! :jumping1:

Do they only work at MK or all over the World?

Pal Mickey works in all 4 parks, not in DTD or the resorts. When you are not in the parks you can play games with him and he will tell you jokes,

Bought My Pal Mickey the first year he came out and LOVE him. He has been back on each of our trips, goes to the parks with us daily, goes to PI, DTD, and to every restaurant. This year I am planning on getting the new one so My Pal Mickey will have a Pal Mickey. The original will go to the parks, the new one will go out for the evening. :rotfl:

Get one, you'll love it! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I got my 50th Anniv Pal Mickey in May and he was great for my solo trip. When we went with friends he was still great, but he's something else to carry around. I liked some of the things he said - he cracked me up! His clip is a bit tricky. I had to rig him so he'd stay on my belt and not fall off.
