I have read in a WDW book that you can rent Pal Mickey's. Is this true and do they still do it. Thanks

Also does anyone know how much they rent for.

I believe the no longer rent Pal Mickeys.

NOTE: As of December 1, you'll no longer be able to rent Pal Mickey. The plush toy has proven so popular as an outright purchase that the rental program is being discontinued. You'll still be able to buy Pal Mickey for $60 (that's $56.33 plus tax; price subject to change) throughout the resort and, coming in May 2005, a "Happiest Celebration on Earth Special Edition" Pal Mickey will be introduced. In addition, a Pal Mickey costume line will debut in the summer

Will we be able to rent the new "special edition" Mickey? Does anyone know?

Does the Pal Mickey I bought in Jan. 2004 still work in the parks?
I just found out DH has made plans for a couple of days in March after a cruise! :Pinkbounc

So, now I have to get back into the mode! I'm so excited.

Pal Mickey will still work in the parks. Even when version 2.0 is out, the orignal version will work. All versions of Pal Mickey will be purchase only.

What do you mean by costume line?

Several costumes for Pal Mickey will be available for purchase. One of the first costumes will be a raincoat. A Lanyard carrying device is also in the works.

More infor on version 2.0:

Approximately 25% of his content will be updated, including new attraction lines (Stitch, Soarin', Expedition Everest, etc.), interactive trivia questions that have replaced many of his jokes, several additional games, sing-a-longs, updated character greetings/shows and a new look (costume and packaging).

I purchased the Pal Mickey from Character Warehouse for $28. He is so cute and very entertaining. I don't know that I would have paid $60 for him. Uh, yeah, I would have. I love the mouse, no matter what the price. 13 days left 'til my Disney fix. :cool1: :smooth:

Does anyone know the answer to this?

Yea! I'm looking forward to the new Pal Mickey coming out this May! I am only hoping that it will be out when I'm there, May 18-22. My plan to rent one on my last trip (Dec 04) were thwarted with the removal of the rental program. My DH then convinced me to wait until the new one comes out. I'm a little bitter about that, but I'm still looking forward to the new one!

The CM I spoke to at Character Warehouse said they were coming out with a new version, which she thought, would include a variety of characters, not just Mickey. She was not specific. I would guess probably Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, maybe Pooh, etc.

I do not know about the rental program, but after seeing my two kids with this, I don't think they would be happy about giving Mickey up at the end of the day. He really is fun. He says a lot of jokes and he gives different tid bits of information about the parks. He also can play 3 different types of games.

I'll post when I get back how Pal Mickey works out. We leave in 13 days. Oh, and did I say he really is so cute. He's not very big. DH says I bought him for me instead of the kids. I think he's right.

This has nothing to do with your original post - but you may want to post a thread on what people think of "Pal Mickey" before spending alot of money on it. Reason being is because we were not all that thrilled with our Pal Mickey In fact.....I really felt he was a waste of money :guilty: . I feel bad saying this because I love Disney things - but I just can't deny my feelings on this.

I didn't like him because he talks so soft that we could rarely hear him talk when he had something to say. The clip that is on him I felt wasn't great and he slipped out of it and I almost lost him once - plus it was a pain having him hang on you - so we had him hang off the stroller. I also expected him to talk a lot more than he did.

Now......I'm sure there are people out there that think Pal Mickey is the best thing ever - and that's okay. I'm just suggesting that you may want to take a survey on peoples opinions before spending alot of money.

Have a great Saturday!!!!!

Slo -- I agree with you about Pal Mickey not being worth the money to buy him . We have only rented him in the past. My two DD's will split the $8 dollar rental fee for the day. So, for the $4 they each spend on him for the day, I think is worth it. That's why I'm so disappointed that they are taking the rentals away.
